“Birthday treat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2012

My Husband booked the Macdonald Windsor hotel for one night's stay for my Birthday.
We stayed in an executive double room, which was spacious with views looking out to Windsor castle. We had a separate shower room, comfy bed, tea/coffee making facilities, ipod docking station, desk and chair, TV, hairdryer, safe, ironing facilities, mini fridge, complimentary bottle of still water.
We loved the room,
The only thing missing was a second chair, if you have room service, it would be more comfortable to eat sittng on a chair, rather than sitting on the bed.
Windsor is a very interesting place to visit, but on this particular occasion our visit was due to going to Windsor races, we took a boat trip to get there, which was lovely, especially as the weather was beatuiful. We had great fun at the races, my Husband had booked a table at the restaurant there, and even after the races a band was playing on stage, the atmosphere was great! We got a boat back to the hotel and we finished the evening having a drink in bar.
All the the staff at the Macdonald Windsor seem very friendly and helpful, and on our return to Windsor, we would love to stay at this hotel again! Highly recommended and well deserves it's number 1 spot on TA

My daughter and i stayed here for 3 nights as we were going to Legoland. It was a birthday treat for my daughter and on learning this the hotel kindly upgraded our room. The room was fantastic, lovely big comfortable bed, large clean room with lovely spacious bathroom. The hotel was immaculate. The hotel staff were very professional and friendly and always very helpful. I couldn't speak highly enough about this hotel, it is by far the best hotel we have stayed in. I would genuinely recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Windsor. I couldn't fault this hotel in any way. It made our stay a very enjoyable and memorable one. The staff here are exceptionally friendly and mannerly.

We were stuck in London because of cancelled flights and a friend recommended we stay here for 2 nights at the last minute. This hotel is very nice. The service was excellent (and so was the buffet breakfast). Nice big rooms with a big TV. Very comfortable beds in a great part of the world. Windsor is a great place to visit even though it is a tourist haven.

The hotel was in a perfect location from which to explore the sights of Windsor, however we chose this hotel as a base from which to visit the Hampton Court Palace Flower show so did not spend much time in Windsor itself.
From start to finish the visit was very enjoyable.
The valet parking was worth the extra charge as it would have been difficult otherwise to park near the hotel, and valet parking staff were very polite and helpful, as were reception staff.
Room was ready on arrival and did not disappoint. It was fresh and clean with good quality fixtures and fittings and everything one would expect from a 4 star "flagship" hotel.

Food in restaurant at breakfast and dinner was excellent, as was room service which was delivered promptly and was well presented.

All staff were very professional but also friendly, which made for a very comfortable stay. We would certainly return to this hotel if in the area again and would recommend the hotel to friends and family.

Room Tip: The hotel is advertised as having views of Windsor Castle and the Changing of the Guard, however onl...

We were so happy this hotel was exactly as described. Small entrance on the High Street , just a few steps from where the Queen was sleeping that night! Luckily we were able to check in immediately, even though we arrived at 10:15 a.m. We even had one of the staff show us two types of rooms, and we chose size over view. The rooms in the back are only 2 years old and quite a bit more floor space . Lovely trendy decor; all very clean .
We walked across the river to Eton and back, and in the evening walked on the Long Walk and all around Windsor Castle. So easy to stay right in the centre of things. Great to be able to take a little rest for an hour and then head back out again.Lots of lunch and dinner options right outside the door.

All worked out so well. Even came back to the room with a lovely birthday card for my husband and 2 delicious cupcakes! So thoughtful!
Next morning, a 15-20 minute ride to Heathrow an we were early for our flight.
Thank to Adele (and all the staff )who checked us in and gave us so much helpful information. We truly enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return on another visit!

Room Tip: FRont of the building offers a view of High St. and Partial view of Windsor Castle. New wing at the...

We booked the hotel's feature suite for two nights to celebrate our anniversary. We had high expectations after seeing the hotel's website and the reviews on here and we were not disappointed. The welcome from valet parking and check in staff was professional, polite and warm and we were able to check into our room early (11.30) at no extra cost.

Our room was beautiful with delightful views over windsor. We had thought the room had a balcony on which we would be able to sit to enjoy a summer evening drink overlooking the castle but in fact it was a narrow outdoor passage on which we had to stand to see over the high wall. This was a minor disappointment but by no means cause for grumble or complaint. The facilities in the room were superb and the concierge services good (although we had to ask twice for our suit bag to be delivered from the car after valet forgetting it).

Breakfast was delicious and again the staff were extremely professional and no request seemed too much. The restaurant manager even came over himself to see if we had everything we needed.

I would definitely recommend this hotel. It's location was perfect and we will definitely return to both Windsor and the Macdonald.

I stayed 4 nights at the Macdonald Windsor with a group of 22 persons. The hotel staff was so friendly and accomodating. The breakfast is plentiful and delicious---buffet and hot choices via menu. It is a stone's throw from Windsor Castle, the Long Walk, the Thames River and everything you need (train station, ATMS, great restaurants, shopping, etc.) is right at your fingertips. I am staying with them again in August and will always choose the Macdonald Windsor when I come here. The rooms are nicely appointed, comfortable and beautifuly decorated. Caley's restaurant in the hotel is very good, too. Have a Caley's cupcake----wholly scrumptious!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with both shower and tub. Some rooms have only a tub or only a shower.
