We were visiting Windsor as part of a one day break from a very long flight (Tanzania to California.) We really wanted a nice dinner but not in a chain restaurant. We stumbled on this small restaurant which had a few interesting items listed on the menu posted in the front of the establishment so we decided to give it a try. Our only regret is the restaurant isn't closer to our home so we could go there on a regular basis.
There were many food choices for meat and non-meat eaters. I ordered the stuffed bell peppers that were filled with "rice and vegetables." In any other restaurant you would have had too look hard to find the veggies in all the rice but NOT in this restaurant. The pepper was cut in half vertically and filled with at least half vegetables and a small amount of rice. My husband ordered a chicken pica (he thinks is the name) which had some very interesting spices. It included saffron rice and flavorful vegetables. We also ate the house salad. The owner came out and talked to us as well as the other diners and was very friendly. We thought the restaurant was very good which is not usually the case in tourist areas.
This restaurant has a second floor which you pass through on your way to the restrooms. It was beautifully decorated and I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to be seated there. If the weather is warmer, there are some tables in front of the restaurant for diners, too. Latino Taverna is a Greek Restaurant and the owner is actually from Greece. He obviously cares alot about what he serves and introducing people to authentic Greek food.
