“Mum's 90th Birthday Lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

The family booked this event for Mum's 90th. It was to be a surprise and it really turned out that way. We had a private room set out for 18 people, the service was good and friendly, food delivery on the slow side and I would say that the food is a little overpriced for what it was. As a whole however the afternoon proved a great success. The location is fantastic, unfortunately the weather was not kind to us and we were not able to utilise the outdoor facilities or photoshots. This is probably a blessing in disguise as I imagine the place would be mobbed on a sunny day with a corresponding increase in late night noise. The rooms were clean and comfortable with a good breakfast. A place for short breaks rather than long stays

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the River Thames

We stayed here last year when we took our wives to London and we went to the FA cup final, well luckily we reached wembley again so choose this hotel straight away, we prefer to stay away from the centre of London but it is only a 40 min train trip to Paddington. The rates offered for the quality of the rooms is very good and as opposed to last time we had a room with a river view (room 411) I think, lovely to wake up and sit on the balcony in the sun and people watch. Room comfortable and a good standard and the breakfast in the main restaurant was excellent and had a really good night in the lively bar on Saturday evening. Will definitely be back for another visit some time soon.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view if available it's a beautiful view onto the river Thames.

I stayed at the Thames Riviera Hotel for one night only. The service at the hotel is great and very friendly. The rooms are pretty small, but clean and cozy, everything you need for a short stay, but I wouldn't go there to have a longer stay.
We ate in the restaurant at the hotel, which served excellent food, but the service there was not that great, we had to wait very long to get served. Try the melted camembert cheese, excellent!

Dear Valued Guest

Thank you for taking the time to write your review.

When allocating the rooms, we would choose a smaller room for a 1 night stay; however for longer staying residents we allocate larger rooms.

Our hotel has 52 bedrooms, all are different shapes and sizes. If any guests are unhappy with their room we will always move them where possible.
If you wish for a larger room, we would recommend that you upgrade to an executive room for a small extra fee.

Thank you for your comment regarding to our friendly staff, we have passed this on to our team.

We are looking forward to welcoming you back to the Thames Riviera Hotel.

Kind Regards,

Nikoletta Toth

We went here for a family funeral, stayed for two nights , first night came back late went to use the toilet omg dont think the top of the toilet has ever been cleaned, told reception next day and they offered to change our room but as the funeral was early we had no time to change. Rooms, when we were leaving the next day the cover had moved on the duvet, which showed it was all stained, told reception on the way out and was told .sorry about that. when i came home i emailed them but had no reply , pity as it has a nice setting.

Nice room although the hotel in general needs refurbishment. The restaurant was a bad experience, we waited so long for our food that we decided to leave and have lunch somewhere else. The breakfast wasn't great as well. The breakfast buffet was quite poor and the area was untidy with children playing and running all around us. We only spent one night thinking it would be a romantic stay, but the photo from their website fooled us, as there it was another story. The building has potential but more ran down than the pictures reveal. It is not worth it the money we spent.

If you can get a deal, this hotel may be OK but for £120 it was poor value for money. Breakfast staff and chambermaids were lovely but others were indifferent, nice but not very keen on helping.Restaurant (apart from breakfast), was very poor; tasteless over-priced food, cold, very little atmosphere and staff, who quite frankly, did not want you around! On the positive side, it's a great location, has free wi fi and plenty of parking. Management just need to do their job.

Clean and comfortable cozy rooms
Friendly staff
Excellent food and nice bar downstairs
Free WiFi at decent speed
Free car park, you'll need a car to move around since the hotel is far from the railway station

It certainly has more character than a typical roadside Holiday Inn

Room Tip: better on the first floor. there are no lifts in this hotel.
