“Great restaurant with extensive menu and great atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013 via mobile

We ate on a Thursday evening and the place was nearly full.
Right from the moment we arrived the service was warm and efficient.
There is an extensive menu and the dishes we chose were well presented and very enjoyable. The mini desserts were a great idea.
Prices were very reasonable and this coupled with great food and service make Cranes one of the best restaurants in Salisbury.

“Fabulous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013 via mobile

There are times, like this, when you do not want to write how great a place is as you want to keep such a find all to yourself. Have come to Salisbury for a weekend away. It has rained and been grey and last nights meal at a highly rated restaurant was distinctly average. Cranes was not. Great food and great service - a real find.

“Top notch !!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

Had heard great things about this place so thought id treat my daughter and we'd give it a go .
The second we were through the door we were treated like royalty ,the place is welcoming, crisp , clean and fresh , the decor is amazing the use of wine boxes and corks as wall decorations is very clever ,the sheepskin and cushions in chairs is warming and comfortable, the staff were extremely helpful and polite especially when it came to going through the menu dish by dish so not to get the wrong thing for my 10 year old daughter ,the food was absolutely amazing I had a Cornish blue souffle and oh my it was simply delicious the best id ever had my daughter had smoked fishcakes and to were simply the best ,she's already asked when we can go back !

I am very glad to hear that you and your daughter enjoyed your lunch with us! I think you chose two of our most popular dishes but there are plenty more to sample when you next come in together! We look forward to welcoming you then!

It is very kind of you to leave this positive comment! We do try hard to keep our food seasonal and fresh and we change the menu about every 8 weeks so that we can provide a good variety of options to our customers!

“Highly recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013

We had booked for a group of 6 for Friday lunchtime. It was full, so if you've not booked go early. A lot of thought has gone into the menu and we all had great difficulty choosing what to have as almost everything appealed. The tuna on special was exceptional and whilst a couple of dishes were not exactly what we expected (which is fine as the chef was doing it his/her way) we were all pleased with what we had. The desserts were cleverly marketed. Small at £2.50 each and a platter of 3 for £6, so we had 2 of those! The sweets, like everything else were well presented, rich and quite enough to satisfy any craving. The cheeses were local and unusual and sounded equally appealing. We didn't have wine as most of us were driving, but the water wasn't charged. The staff were attentive and personable. My only negative comment was that the tables were a little squashed in but we had a lovely table against the wall with a comfortable bench with cushions. The bar area when you go in is intimate and the main restaurant at the back is light and airy with a large conservatory extending into a garden area and suitable for (well behaved) children although not sure there was a children's menu.

We will certainly go again and I would recommend to visitors (it is enviably close to the Cathedral Close with parking within easy walking distance), ladies who lunch and couples in the evening.
