Having enjoyed a good lunch at the Boathouse, I was all ready to recommend it to friends and family when I had a really unpleasant experience with a member of staff there.
My baby daughter needed a nappy change so I headed off to the loo (knowing that the didn't have specific baby change facilities and I would need to use the cubicle) when the waitress yelled out across the pub (with other customers looking on) that I couldn't change a baby at the pub. When I explained that my baby had soiled her nappy and I had no choice, she simply threw her hands in the air as if to say 'not my problem'. I eventually insisted on using the toilets as the situation was getting urgent, much to the clear irritation of the member of staff concerned.
Having made the change, my family and I quickly settled the bill and left - we were made to feel extremely uncomfortable after this encounter. If the Boathouse does have a 'no families welcome here' policy, this should be clearly displayed at the front of the building before people spend their money there! We shall not be returning any time soon.
