“Good steak, rotten veg!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013 via mobile

Ordered the Yorkshire fillet, came perfectly cooked with excellent chips, but all 4 of us on the table had our food accompanied with a rotten corn on the cob, literally !! After a word with the waitress and 10 minutes later we received a replacement corn. Although wasn't black like the last towards the centre, it was far from fresh and practically inedible. For a restaurant that is proud to tell everyone that its a Sunday Times 'Top Ten' with themselves advertising it everywhere, they seem to be riding on an outdated achievement. Their website still boasts Trip Advisors 4.5 stars... Obviously management don't check this anymore or respond to people's dissatisfaction.

“Adequate steak house”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

For the price of the steaks, I would expect better. The steaks were OK - but just that. The service was slow and not particularly friendly. Its over-priced and could be so much better.

“Pleasantly Surprised”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013 via mobile

Turned up here late one night whilst on a business trip. The place was nigh on empty and first impressions were not encouraging, as the staff did not exactly welcome us with open arms.

But the chap who took our order was polite, cheerful and knowledgable (as was the lady who was in charge for the evening), and the steaks were first class - cooked just right.

The "shot glass" puddings were a fun idea and extremely tasty - well worth a try.

“Very disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

We went for lunch here in January 2013 but were disappointed. We both had the steak but the meat was rather fatty and had been cooked in too much butter and garlic. The meat itself seemed surprisingly tasteless (minimal if any seasoning) and the only taste it had was butter which gave it a greasy texture as well. The only other couple in the restaurant with us (on a rainy January mid-week lunchtime) also complained their food tasted like it had been done in the microwave!

“not a winner's dinner”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

First visit caused us to rave about this place. Second visit put us of forever. Non-alcoholic cocktail wasn't - as was obvious from first mouthful. Staff astounded rather than apologetic. Steaks so disappointing - and lacking in the finesse of first visit. Sweats real mistake. If it was cheaper it would be Ok but at these prices I expect first class food and service with a smile - a willingness to go the extra mile. Instead a trip to the kitchen seemed too much trouble. The name kinda said it all.
