“Problem with Charging”

Wyndham Park Lodge

Feb 10, 2008

Unfortunately I did not get to stay at the Wyndham Lodge due to cancelled flights.

However, I was disappointed with the subsequent unprofessional handling of my booking. After initially been told that the cancellation charge had been waived, my credit card was subsequently debited without notification or receipt.

Management Response

Our Cancellation policy clearly states we need 24 hours notice in which to cancel a booking without penalty.
After having a call re cancellation less than 24 hours before the stay we said we would do our best to re-let the room in which case, if we did, we would waive the guest charge. (we are not obliged to do this, however, it is something we like to do!)
Unfortunately we were unable to re-let the room and therefore, not until the following morning, debited the card with the cancellation fee.
It was an accident that we did not call the guest back and have already apologised for this!

This is a great place. It is just outside the city center and close to the circle road around the city. The host and hostess are the most gracious we encountered in a 3 week trip to england. The rooms were clean and smartly decorated. There is a choice of breakfasts and there were all good.

Even though the family lives in the house (it is a B&B) we did not have any trouble coming and going as we pleased.

Loved it!

We stayed at this B&B as our first stop on a transatlantic trip with our teen. While we had a rental car, the Lodge is within walking distance of the center of town and the cathedral--we did not use our car in town. The family room was big enough for 3 people to share, with suitcases, without tripping over each other. The bathroom was also quite large and modern. The room had tea and hot chocolate available on a small table. TV also provided. Breakfast choices were plentiful with the usual English breakfast and English style pancakes (more like a French crepe) plenty of tea and homemade jam and toast. While our room faced the street, it is a quiet residential area for the most part--we slept soundly and there was not any street noise at night. Be forewarned that parking is difficult in the part of town where the Lodge is located. The Lodge offers 2 private parking places off street at the back of the house which you must carefully pull in and out of so as not to scrape the fence (or your rental car!) The owners are very friendly and helpful with directions to sites, restaurant advice which we found very useful, and will loan you a computer to access the internet.

“Outstanding B&B!!!”

Perfect! That's, without sheer doubt, the best word to describe this B&B. The rooms are very confortable, clean, beautifully decorated and quiet. There's no way you won't feel relaxed here the moment you've arrived. Suzanne and Peter, the hosts, are very nice and will spoil you with a great breakfast and an excelent tray of hot chocolate, cookies, among other things in your room. There's satellite TV, and wireless internet (and they don't charge you extra for it). Also, the street where the place is located is very quiet, yet just a short walk from just about anywhere in town. And on top of things, this place has a good value for maney. I've stayed here with 3 more people and just loved it! Highly recomended!
