“Fascinating insight”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

This is a museum of 250 years of the infantryman shown through artefacts, models and photographs. You don't have to be interested in military history to enjoy this as it shows the life of ordinary soldiers over the years and let's face it, we have all known somebody who was a soldier. It is the museum of the local amalgamated regiment so you do get a taste of local history as well.

“Very interesting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

The Wardrobe houses The Rifles (Berkshire & Wiltshire) Museum. This is a small fascinating museum chronicling the life of an infantryman man over the past 250 years. It is dedicated to those regiments, that after various amalgamations became the 'The Rifles'. The house itself is lovely with a large garden that takes you down to the banks of the River Avon. There is are tea rooms next door, which look very good, but didn't go there. Worth a visit.

“We stayed here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

We stayed in the Landmark Trust flat on the top floor. Terrific views of the cathedral. The flat itself is comfortable, ultra-convenient; being a Landmark, it has its little quirks, but we're used to those.
Warning: 52 steps from ground level to the flat.
