Went to the Milford for the weekend with a large group of people, the check in was smooth and effective and we were allocated a pleasant good size room. the room was clean and well equipped, above average.
Friday night we had a buffet dinner which was below expectations, as was the service. We had to clear plates between courses ourselves. The buffet was not replenished regularly so you felt you had to scrape the last of the trays. It was like a canteen meal and not a restaurant experience.
Saturday's breakfast was not much better, the cooked food arrived at different times so it was impossible to have a full breakfast, you had to have it in instalments. Eggs first, then maybe bacon and so on.
Saturday's dinner was much better. it was well presented and service was good. Staff was quick to accommodate special requests and was well organised.
Another thing that we and many of our crowd commented on was the bar prices. They are equal or above central London prices - not what you expect from a 3 star hotel.
The Milford is a decent hotel with good rooms and friendly staff. It is conveniently located for Salisbury town centre and easy to access from the main roads into Salisbury but do not expect a wow factor.
I would not hesitate to recommend the Milford as a good basic hotel where you will get friendly staff and a good night’s sleep.
