Description: The thriving centre of Leeds may be bursting at the seams with chain bars and big name restaurants but dont think for a minute theres no quirky treatments to enjoy. Arts Caf and Bar is the original hip, young Leeds hangout, combining eating, drinking and surprise local art. The bright and sunny interior, painted canary yellow and decked out in vintage-y furniture, is totally relaxed and the sort of place where you can spend a whole afternoon sipping a coffee and talking art, books and life in general. Many do. And during those long, soul searching hours you neednt go hungry, Arts offers a full a la carte menu in addition to smaller lunch dishes, which combines ethical dining with full British flavour.

“One of the best.......”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013 via mobile

Have been to the Art's Café on a number of occasions and have always enjoyed the food. Called in on Saturday lunch time to celebrate my birthday and it was lovely yet again. They have a great balance of good food and atmosphere. It's well worth a wait if they can't seat you right away.

“One of the best rib eyes I've ever had. Arts consistently delivers on food.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

I have visited arts cafe a few times now and every time the food has been superb and well priced. My last visit I enjoyed possibly one of the best rib eye steaks I've ever eaten. Wherever they source the meat from - don't change! Compliments to the chef for cooking it to perfection. Served with BBQ butter which although has a slightly odd texture, was very nice and an interesting twist on the usual steak serving you see in other restaurants. Although they don't offer a bernaise sauce the waitress advised me on a similar sauce from another part of the menu which they bought me as well. Again this was delicious, well made and top service from our waitress for suggesting it.
My friend had the venison which I have had before and enjoyed. The meat has great flavour and the serving is again interesting and tasty. Desert was good but my friends salted caramel and dark chocolate ganache, peanut butter soil and banana ice cream felt like a little bit of an unfinished dish which could perhaps benefit from a little work on the next menu. My sticky toffee pudding was a classic dish well executed.
The wine list ticks all the boxes and again is reasonably priced. I have always been satisfied even when drinking their cheapest house wines. It would be nice to see a few more premium offerings for those times when I like to splash out but I understand why they don't.
In general arts is a great little restaurant with solid well priced food and good service (which has been slightly hit and miss in the past but pretty much spot on during my last visit). They also do an early bird offer which is absolutely ridiculously good value.
In a city that is increasinly becoming populated by nandos, burger towns, yo sushi's, tgi fridays and all the rest you if want a gaurenteed hit meal from an independant restaurant you should probably go to arts cafe. Hadoukon!

“Lovely atmosphere - nice food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

The food was good - vegetarian spring roll main course was a bit of an odd combination, but the atmosphere was warm, the service great and it was good value.

“Unique Lunch Spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

Great styling and selection of art hanging on the wall and genuinely just a nice place to sit and have some food. For lunch I had the homemade burger which was inhaled in a hungover haze within minutes. Just on the small side portion wise which left enough room for one of their excellent desserts. I had banana ice cream with peanut butter and chocolate ganache, truly beautiful. My boyfriend had their fish platter which really gave me food envy despite a juicy burger sitting on my plate. Smoked mackerel potato salad, salmon pate and excellent bread really stood out as trumping my burger. He had a sticky toffee pudding for desert which he said was awesome. All in all, great food, around £30 for the both of us with a Victorian lemonade each so very decent for the standard of food. Will definitely be returning to get me one of those fish platters!

“Excellent”

Fifth visit to Arts over past couple of years. Always good food, good service and also very reasonable. Would recommend to anyone. Have to get there early to get a table but well worth it.
