Just acorss the road from the amazing ruins of Kirkstall Abbey is the Abbey House Museum. It has a great cafe/restaurant and a wonderful museum focussing on the past history of Leeds, its streets, life, work and daily events with particular emphasis on children. At particular times (such as Halloween) themed events take place i.e.'spot the cats' spooky spiders and ghostly happenings. There is a dressing up room so that children can get a real feel for Victorian childhood and plenty of things that are child-sized and interactive. Upstairs there is a wealth of toys and games through the ages that are of interest for the smallest to the biggest in the family. Well worth a visit!
