“Nice but not”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

I have been here before and loved it, unfortunately last Sunday I had lunch here and suffered from food poisoning. Not sure what to make of it as it's yet to clear from my system :o(

“Too hot and not very exciting”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

Visited this restaurant with work colleagues on a Thursday evening. We booked in advance and were shown immediately to a table despite the 'hoards' hanging around outside.

We were unable to read the menus as we had to use them as fans to overcome the heat that hit you as you walked through the front door on a hot summers evening. The lady who greeted us at the door saw our discomfort and offered us an alternative in a room at the back of the restaurant where the air conditioning was working - much better.

It took quite a while to take our drinks order - we even considered ordering a double round in case we didn't get another chance! The non-alcoholic cocktail was served in a handled jam jar (like the ones in Big Brother!) and was a complete rip-off at £4.50 for a jam jar filled to the brim with crushed ice and a bit of flavoured liquid added - the proportion of ice to drink was completely wrong. The bottle of red wine was taken away to be chilled as it was far too warm to drink - even after being theoretically chilled we had to ask for ice cubes to cool it further - The first time I have drunk red wine with ice cubes floating in it, although it melted pretty quickly !
The starters were better and more flavoursome than the main courses, the vol-au-vent and cheese tart were particularly tastey (which compensated for the tarts soggy bottom !!!). The belly pork special of the day was fine but the steaks were nothing special. Please note that you need to order sides from the very limited options as no vegetables or side salad are included.

Whilst the staff were friendly and I thank the lady who found us a cooler table, this isn't somewhere I will rush back to as there are so many better alternatives in Leeds.

“Good time but busy and hot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

We went here on a sturday night and booked as we were expecting it to be busy. We weren't wrong

We were about 15 mins early for our booking and expected to wait as it was really busy out side but we got seated straight away. We did then wait for 30 mins before someone came to take our drinks order.

The waitress then returned without our drinks to take our food order. we waited a little longer and the drinks arrived followed shortly by the food. Most probably about an hour after we arrived we were eating

The food was very nice and a good quality and pretty much worth the wait a little on the expensive side to what we are used to but i guess thats Leeds for you

Only really issue was how hot the restaurant was. It was a warm night and it was full but upon leaving we realised it was cooler outside and this was on one of the hotest days of the year.

“Expensive food and drink but quirky decor”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013 via mobile

Visited here for Wednesday lunch. Seated inside and loved the potting shed decor.
Service was slow, waited over 10 minutes for our bill when there were only half a dozen covers in but the staff were cheerful enough.
Food is poor for a Leeds restaurant, I had the daily special of the Thai green curry as its a favourite of mine and was very disappointed. Watery, tasteless and oily with no kick and hardly any chicken in what was a very small portion, advertised with basmati rice but it was long grain, complained to the manager who told me that he didn't know how that happened as they only use basmati rice, really? Well you advertise chilli with long grain rice!
Partner had the mixed choosing platter which she loved.
I saw other people's food coming out but to be honest none of them stood out at me for an average of £10 a dish they need to up their game.
Drinks were expensive too, bottles beers at nearly £4 a pop.
Not going back I'm afraid, too much choice in Leeds with the new trinity centre close by so they better up their game.
