Me and my boyfriend booked this hotel for two nights over the New Year. We arrived to a good reception at the check in desk and were able to go straight into the room. We decided to get the train as we were informed that parking would be £10 per night. Luckily the train station is literally a two minute walk away.

When we arrived in the room, it was as good as could be expected, the bathroom was lovely however- rather modern. I was surprised however at the amount of reflective surfaces and mirrors in the room!!!!

We soon found out that a lot of the amenities described on the website in which I booked this hotel were either only available in the executive rooms and suites, such as dressing gowns, slippers etc, or just not as good as described. For example the sky/cable tv was literally a couple of sports channels and the rest foriegn. To add to this the tv was not working the morning of our departure.
Air conditioning was noisy but we soon found that turning it off was the best solution- not ideal if your staying in the middle of Summer! Luckily we were there in December.

Also the gym was not open for the two days of our stay. This was put down to health and safety reasons on the first day and 'people messing around in there' on the second day. When my boyfriend complained about this the receptionist simply claimed that 'it is only a mini gym anyway' and was put forward to a manager- we never heard about it again!

Room service and the restaurant in the hotel were rather expensive and so chose to eat in the city centre.

Only other complaints were that on New Years Eve the music for the downstairs club/bar did not go off until 4am, so so much for the sound proof rooms that were described ( we were on the 9th floor an could still hear it rather loudly) We did however put this down for the time of year and wouldnt hold it against the hotel in future.
And room service knocked quite early the morning of our departure which I thought could have been organised better by the hotel considering we were leaving at 12. 30.Why not come after check out time knowing we were leaving that day. It was as if they were making a wake up call to get you to check out on time.

Overall the hotel was only ok. It is excellently located and is clean and modern and stylish and does offer some good amenities. However after comparing with a friend who was staying a hotel across the road from us with the same star rating and with a lower room price, we decided that the hotel simply did not live up to expectations and the star rating or price paid per person.

What an awful hotel.

When you turn up at a hotel and the bell staff don't know where the nearest car park (or whether the hotel even has a car park) is a bad omen - it doesn't by the way.

The reception area only had one member of staff on duty at 8pm when you might expect a lot of guests were arriving - hence a queue. The reception area was freezing cold - more about that in a second.

Up to the room eventually and there was the sound of running water. An in room water feature? Some form of feng shui? No, a defective toilet with the cistern obviously faulty meaning the lever was stuck and so the cistern would not fill! Asked for another room which took close to 10 minutes. Got the feeling they would have liked me to come down in the very slow lifts. I wasn't playing. Eventually a new key arrives for another room. Toilet works once and then I could not get it to flush again!

Television channels - reasonable selection but CNN "is only available is Executive Rooms and Suites" - how ridiculous is that?

Room was also distinctly cold like the reception area and pumping up the room heating control seemed to make no difference.

Breakfast the next morning and an order for porridge saw a poached egg delivered to my table. By 8:15 there was no white bread left for toast.

We had a business meeting in one of the conference rooms during the day - it was cold the whole day and when we went up to use a "breakout" room - a converted bedroom on the fifth floor, there was no heat whatsover - conducive to discussions on a freezing West Yorkshire December day when sleet is falling outside.

Check out time in the morning - did I mention the queues? Again only one member of staff on duty.

We later learnt the one of the boilers had broken down hence the cold - that itself is bad - couldn't they find a repair person quicky?

The defective toilets are inexcusable.

On arrival the place looks good - snazzy multi-coloured lighting behind reception, good looking room fictures and nice artwork over beds - but this is clearly a place where form overtakes function.

Attempted to check-in at 12.30pm, but informed our twin room wasn't ready, so we returned at 4.00pm when there was now a large queue for check-in. Another young man attempted to check us into our twin room booked as part of a Sunny Leeds package, inc breakfast and dinner @ £89.00 per room, booked via laterooms.com. However he informed us there were no twin rooms for my friend and i and that he was giving us a free upgrade to a suite on the top floor! What an amazing room and views - all for £89.00! The food was excellent and all the male receptionists were perfect gentleman - a rarity in this modern society! Would definitely return - hopefully with my husband next time. Well done Park Plaza!

We stayed at this hotel on the night of Robbie Williams concert. We struggled to get 2 double rooms anywhere in the City so we ended up here at £210 per couple ! Admittingly we had executive rooms which were huge and had great views but in general we thought the hotel just seemed a little tired and shabby - especially in the public areas. However, the worst part of out stay was when we reurned to the room at about 3.30am - feeling somewhat the worse for wear to discover that the miny bar had been emptied - we rang reception to be told that they had emptied all the mini bars because they were concerned that people who had been to the concert would drink everything and not pay for it! They had even taken all the water - I've never had that happen to me before - certainly not good customer service.

We booked into an Executive Room and from the moment we entered the hotel it was a lovely experience.

The first impression of the hotel is retro, stylish and trendy.
Our room was immaculate and was large and comfortable - the bathroom was also first class as was the well stocked mini bar!

Had a lovely coffee in the contemporary ground floor bar which is an excellent viewpoint to watch the world go by.

The location of the hotel is excellent - right in the middle of the city and excellent for the best bars and restaurants.

The breakfast room is very retro with a really nice feel and the food was excellent and plentiful and the staff bent over backwards to offer a good service.

As this hotel is 4 star it didnt seem to attract hoardes of hen/stag parties just young professionals who appreciate the ambience of a classy joint!

Im really surprised about the reviews on this site - I have nothing but praise for the place and will definitely be going back.
