I'll begin with some qualifications: I like a restaurant to be warm and comfortable, the staff to be friendly, helpful and fun but not be overbearing and the food to taste as good as it looks (I sometimes wonder if this is not becoming a somewhat outdated attitude). Lastly, desserts should never - I repeat NEVER - at any point have seen the interior of a freezer!
On all points I am happy to report that the Peasehill House scores full marks.
If I had to put a label on the cuisine I would call it modern British with merest nod across the Channel but then there's some pretty non-modern stuff there, too - nice Sunday roasts, Yorkshire Pudding etc.
The prices are just unbelieveable. I don't know how they have managed to keep them down so low. I can only assume it is a matter of principle on someone's part. I know of places in Leeds which are charging four times as much for the same kind of food. This is not an exaggeration.
The staff are a joy. There are a few toddlers in my family and they are treated like superstars by the staff.
This is also one of the few places I know that still does the good old fashioned dinner dance - especially at Christmas.
