“Nice base in Leeds”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013 via mobile

I stayed here in a spacious double delux. The room was excellent with a great sense of space and a really comfortable bed.
Bathroom was also huge, with a separate shower.all of the usual Malmaison touches are in this hotel and it doesn't appear to be dating as badly as some of the Mals in other cities.
Dinner of venison was delicious but breakfast was pretty dire....my poached eggs were inedible due to the string vinegar taste...despite leaving a virtually full plate the staff didn't ask if there was a problem.
I'll stay again next time I'm in Leeds...parking is close by as is the station and a decent number of restaurants and bars.

I stayed in the cosy rooms which are indeed cosy but have lovely high ceilings which makes the room feel very airy.
The barroom is nice and large. The bed comfortable. The only thing below par in my room were the television which had very bad contrast which could not be adjusted and the furniture which is not made of actual wood but it's only veneer. It just looks a bit bad but it's no big deal.

Old red brick building with a lovely inviting entrance foyer.
It is a five minute walk from the main Leeds train station.
Nicely designed room, cosy, but not too small.
Comfy bed, nice pillows. Bathroom with bath/shower combo. Good sized bath towels with huge free toiletries, gel, shampoo, body lotion.
Bathroom lighting too high so not good for applying make-up.
Good ac/heating
Decent sized wardrobe but no drawers anywhere. Just a couple of shelves in the wardrobe, though I had to take out the tea/coffee tray to use one of those.
Iron and board, decent powered hairdryer and a dvd player.
Quite a good sized flatscreen tv but the reception was quite bad on some of the channels.
No room safe.
Did not use the restaurant but we had a few drinks from the extensive cocktail menu in the bar which was very cosy.
Staff polite and friendly. Will be back.

For my 30th birthday my wife decided to surprise me with a night away in Leeds. This was my first time in a malmaison and I must say I enjoyed the entire experience from the first minute to the last.

The parking was just a short distance across the road in the Q car park (not queens hall as I thought), parking here should be £11 for the night but the malmaison discounts the cost by £8 so £3 for parking is a very decent price.

Check in was pleasant and quick, the staff were friendly and eager to offer as much information as I needed with regards to restaurants and bars around Leeds.

When I got into my room I was very impressed with the decor not to mention the massive bed and very lovely ambience.

The mini bar stocks a large variety of alcoholic and soft drinks aswell as nuts and crisps. The bathroom was also neat and tidy.

The breakfast the next morning consisted of a continental buffet (with freshly squeezed orange, not that yucky concentrated stuff) aswell as a sizeable menu offering a variety of different cooked breakfasts from the Full English to Eggs benedict.

The staff were again polite and attentive and the breakfast itself was delicious (try the homemade granola).

All in all this is a wonderful hotel and I would thoroughly recommend it.

The staff where great the room was fine clean, functional, but the food was terrible , I had the Mal burger it was tasteless and dry( the buffet was very good so filled up on that)
breakfast we had to send my wife's scrambled eggs back just a sloppy mess how on earth they let this out of the kitchen, also just a little moan my toast was only toasted on one side for a hotel of this standard I would expect better
having said this we did enjoy our stay and would go back, the hotel is located in the gay area of Leeds so be carful what bar you use

First time in a Malmaison, we can see why people like them so much - great room, great atmosphere and very friendly and helpful staff all round. We had the full package deal (dinner and Breakfast in the brasserie included) which was good value and made for a lovely lazy stay. Great location to see the city centre, with a quick 5 min walk up from the hotel to the shops - the new everyman cinema is well worth checking out for a different cinema experience. Selection for dinner was good, food well cooked and presented. All the staff managed to find that sweet spot of engaging while not annoying. Sunday breakfast was a great lazy start (try the granola!); only regret was we had already arranged lunch elsewhere or we would have loved to try the sunday lunch described. Our only small point would be it's time to replace the complementary bathroom containers, rather than refilling - they stood out as tired and out of place when everything else was so perfectly presented.
