“The Dear Oh Dear Deer Park!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014

Went with my hubby tonight. This is the second visit about five years apart! Not impressed the first time but someone mentioned they had had a good meal recently, so thought we would give it another try.
The prices for some of the meals are ludicrous! £20 for a steak! And which ever way you look at it, it is still a pub. If you are hungry enough to eat before six they have a two courses/three courses deal but that still doesn't make the food any more palatable. Hubby had the burger which was tasteless and uninteresting and if you wanted to brighten it up you had to pay extra for the privelage. Come on guys..l.we are talking about a burger! There was no salad dressing the plate and the twice cooked frites would have been better cooked just the once! There would have been more frite! I had a goats cheese onion and mushroom tart. The pastry was so awful it made me gag and I can do better myself.
We had two courses each and a bottle of sparkling water each. Our mains were the cheapest on the menu and it still cost us £42,,!! It will be at least another five years before we go back again!

“OK place- shame about the Kids meal”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2014

This is an OK t restaurant with plenty of parking. The children are welcome and there are plenty of them there. Unfortunately the kids meal of chicken lollipops and chips was an absolute rip off!
2 measly pieces of chicken at the end of 2 skewers + chips was almost £7 .
Save your money and go elsewhere just down the road where you can get 3 courses and a drink for less.

The adult food was Ok, but nothing special for the price. We will not be returning again unless there are changes.

“Good standard but expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2014

We have visited this outlet over the years and followed the transition from a good standard pub to the current presentation as part of the Mitchells & Butlers "Premium Country Dining Group"
We visited on a Saturday lunchtime and received a very friendly welcome. The table layout is good and has sufficient space for privacy. It is also good to have orders taken at the table avoiding the need to queue at the bar, and the general standard of service and approach by staff is very good. The menu provides a sufficient and interesting choice. The food quality is excellent, although we felt that the cost was expensive for some of the items provided. The "value" aspect will be a point of consideration in our future selection of eating venues in the area.

“Not one to rave about”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2014

We made the mistake of going on Mother's day and it was clear that the management simply hadn't staffed up to cope with the volume of customers they'd booked in. The table was booked for 2pm and we were told it was just being prepared when I chased it for the second time at 2.25. First course was served at 2.55. Food was nothing special. Starters were OK but the roasts were poor. The crackling with the pork managed to be both hard and rubbery - totally inedible. The beef was stringy and overcooked. To be balanced, my son thought his chicken was good... The service was poor. My grandchildren (4 and 6 ) were left waiting a good 5 minutes for their meals after all 6 adults had been served. When their food did arrive they had bigger portions than the adult meals!! The choice on the fixed price menu for starters and puds is very restricted. One of the party asked the waitress for her opinion on two puds - one FP one not - and I think her reply said it all. " I like both, but that one's much bigger". Guess which one was FP.... We were just finished our puds at 4.25 when one of the senior staff came across to see if we were finished and ask if we wanted coffees. He seemed relieved when we said no - I think because they had another party waiting......They were clearing the table before we'd stood up! My son and daughter in law have eaten here many times and had good experiences - this wasn't one of them

“Really good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014

Food lovely, not much vegetarian or vegan option, however, the chef will amend food.
Brill staff and the potatoes with chillie are amazing and also the garlic with breads is a must have.

Never had a bad meal.
