“Great location, helpful staff, room shabby”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2008

Excellent location for railway station and shops. Impressive entrance hall, bar and restaurant. Excellent choice for breakfast and helpful staff. Excellent facility for storage of luggage if required before check-in or after check-out. Room was quite shabby and stuffy. Bed was fairly comfortable but base was very shabby and material ripped. Only basic television channels as cable was not available, although did spend very little time in the room.

I stayed in the hotel for a girlie weekend for the May bank Holiday weekend, found the staff to be fantastic and the room standard to be brilliant, we had a triple room and there was plenty of space for three, the room service was lovely and very quickly delivered, location was brilliant right beside the train station, if I was going back I would definately stay here again.

The architecture of this hotel is stunning from the outside, however, the staff on the inside are a real let down. The reception 'manager' muttered comments under her breath as she checked people in which was very rude. Another member of staff promised to rectify a problem with our booking and then smirking, never got back to us as promised and did not alter the bill as he said he would.

The room was fine - a good size and with nice furniture. It was very noisy from the busy road outside though which meant sleeping was difficult without earplugs.

The breakfast was OK but the high density of staff watching everything we ate was very off putting.

  • Liked — The size of the room.
  • Disliked — The staff.

Booked a for one night (Saturday) through last minute for £89 - bed, breakfast and a bottle of wine. Very good value. Good location, reasonable value for city centre, secured parking. Pleasant staff, clean and spacious room. Breakfast was fine (but a pity about the cold plates). Only complaint was the eratic shower which veered between very hot, very cold, reasonably powerful and slight drip. I'd stay here again.

The Met Hotel was in an excellent location in the city centre, however my friends and I were quite appalled with the room decor and cleanliness (or should i say lack of). The divan beds had chunks missing from the corners, the side of the bath was hanging off, there was cracks up the walls and the carpet was stained. We complained about one window as it would not shut properly which kept two people awake due to the wind, however the reception staff did nothing about it. Two out of five of us actually came home with insect bite marks! I was very surpised to see a 4* hotel room in this state and I will definitely give this hotel a miss next time I visit Leeds

I've just returned from staying one night with a group of friends.

After reading the reviews, I was not looking forward to it at all. At check in I ask if the hotel was being refurbished and the receptionist confirmed it was - but we were in a refurbished room on the second floor (226). The room was a little small, but very pleasant, bathroom was obviously new, and the facilites very good, decent hairdryer, iron, ironing board, tea and coffee - we have no complaints at all - the room was quiet and not too hot !!

My only complaint really was the prices at the hotel bar, £7.50 for a white wine spritzer - which I think is over priced for Leeds!

Breakfast was very nice - plenty of choice.

Recommend places to drink like Tiger Tiger and The Living Room - overall quite impressed !

This hotel is perfect location, literally two minutes walk from the station, and plenty of places to eat and drink around the corner. About 5 minutes from the main shopping - such as Harvey Nichols etc. I would go back !
