“second stay,give it a go”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

It's my second stay at this hotel and I've found it very good, nice room very clean and warm enough (17th jan) didn't have an evening meal this stay but we did have a very nice buffet breakfast for really the same price as a travel inn £69 for 2 people with breakfast, bar and coffee shop on site and a 24 hour Asda and a Toby carvery about a mile down the road in Morley.

We went for our Christmas party there the food was ok but you had to go up and get it yourself and the drinks were expensive. The entertainment was ok as there was a live band playing. The drinks were a different price depending on which bar you went to.

Got an absolute bargain on Sunday 30th Dec - £89 dinner bed and breakfast for 2 adults and two kids (cheaper than staying at home!) Room wasn't ready until 3.45pm so had to hang around for a short while. Room was great tho, with trundle beds for the kids. Pool was really good - loads of changing room space and lockers.
Carvery for dinner was a bit basic. Staff not particularly attentive, they have cameras in the restaurant, so I think they rely on those to see when you have finished your meal. So there is no one around to ask for additional drinks etc.
Breakfast was ok - although had to wait 15 mins for a pot of tea while they waited for the water to boil! - would have been quicker to go back to the bedroom and make one myself - odd one really.
Apart from that no real negatives, nice one night get away at a bargain price

One thing to note, communication via De Vere web site is a nightmare. I emailed them on 28th Dec to ask some questions about the hotel - still wating for a reply!

Room Tip: Get one on top floor overlooking the car park. Other side overlooks M62

We ate at the pub as an extended family one evening during our Christmas stay. It's usually really easy to eat as a family there with good service and food. I'm not sure what happened this time but it was poor from start to finish.
First of all I wasn't able to get a glass of milk for my toddler. In the twenty or so previous visits this has never been an issue but the bar staff were unable to help me this time.
The burgers that our party ordered were served raw, the manager apologised and refunded our money which was a nice thing to do. We weren't the only ones taking food back that evening!
Our children weren't able to have their ice cream as there was non in stock and there was no Baileys. This was all explained by a surly waitress who was obviously having a bad shift.

Stayed overnight on the way south and after visit to Xscape. Great family room, leisure facilities and food. Things to improve: kids can't go in pool after 5pm, which meant they only had a quick dip; and poor girl in restaurant was run off her feet but kept smiling - could be better organised. But in general seemed to be very well run, and good value.

This is a modern hotel with excellent lesuire facilities. £65 for a double room including breakfast was easily worth it. Staff were very helpful, the only downside was the customer being sick after a Christmas party in the foyer. It is a fair distnace from Leeds city centre so not really suitable for a night out in Leeds unless you want to pay a hefty taxi fare.
