“Beautiful Birthday Retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

This review is long overdue as we visited Ashmount in March 2012, but as thoughts come to what to do for my birthday this year I am very tempted to return to this hotel!
We stayed for one night in Suite Dreams at No.21, which is the room on the first floor in one of the cottages across the road from the main house. The room was immaculate, beautifully decorated with grand features, the king size four poster; the copper roll top bath & baroque gold mirror. It managed to be opulent and cosy all at the same time! After a walk on the moors and too many cakes at afternoon tea, it was very easy to relax & feel at home in the room, which we did by promptly nodding off on the sofa!
The roll top bath was a perfect romantic treat, but we timed it poorly as we couldn't bathe and look out over the view as a) I am too small and b) it was pitch black! But we lit the candles and after took advantage of the very sumptuous gowns & slippers the hotel provides.
We had an amazing nights sleep on the gorgeous bed & were awoken with our 'picnic basket' breakfast brought to our room.
It was a perfect weekend, so many luxurious touches for an incredibly reasonable price.
We will definitely return.

Just returned from a weekend break having stayed at Serenity Spa room. Great welcome and everything was explained to us, how the sauna and hot tub worked.

First night indulged ourselves in the hot tub and sauna and enjoyed an excellent meal in the restaurant. We had the steak and duck main dishes which were really tasty. Thought the menu was a bit sparse and a tad too expensive but was so nice.

Utilised the honesty bar where you help yourself to drinks which was good with a great selection.

Following morning had breakfast but this let the place down. Service was slow and despite us contacting the hotel days beforehand and also contained in the room information, there was no gluten free bread or soya milk or spread. ( they did manage the bread the next morning ).

Hot tub is ace, the room was super bed was comfortable everything worked well. We had our own conservatory attached to the room and that led to the courtyard where hot tub and sauna are. Plenty of towels and you even get a robe ( comes in size small ) and slippers.

We had a great relaxing weekend and might well visit again.

We chose the room with the Sauna and whirlpool bath. Quite rare to find a country house such as this with these sorts of luxuries. Service with a smile and delightful surroundings. Price is high but if you can afford it - do it.

We have just returned from a fantastic 2 night stay at the Ashmount country house. We stayed in the serenity spa room – complete with outdoor hot tub. The hotel focuses on the personal touch and it is ideal if you are fed up staying in nameless generic hotels. It is ideal for a special night away or a relaxing break where you can indulge in some well-earned peace and quiet. The rooms are of a traditional style which suited the house – immaculately clean and well kept. The staff were warm and friendly, yet professional throughout – from our initial email enquiry to the moment we checked out.

The hotel has an excellent restaurant, using locally sourced produce. We ate there on the first night of our stay. My husband had the steak – and believes it to be one of the best he has had and I had a goat’s cheese pasta which again was of a high quality. The breakfast was divine again produce was of a very high quality which we could not fault.

Our stay was over far too quickly but we plan to return to this first class establishment.

The Ashmount is a country house, the former home of a doctor I recall, though it's a lot bigger than many a home. The hosts were welcoming and chatty and indeed do make you feel at home. You'll be directed well anywhere; warned about parking in the village and have restaurants recommended. The room was comfortable and luxuriously furnished. The evening meals were very good quality. We didn't make use of spa or have a special room so we've clearly some of the experience mentioned by other reviewers. A walk into town is 100m where there are odd shops and several worthwhile restaurants. And then there are the Bronté pilgrim highlights and some bracing walks. It was a nice break, and a nice stay here that we'd do again.

Just returned from 2 nights at the Ashmount hotel staying in the Honeypot suite and it was fantastic. The bed was enormous and just so comfortable and the indoor spa bath was so relaxing and a brilliant way to warm up after the snow. It is the most comfortable spa bath I have been in, with headrests and plenty of room. Beautiful little touches like the chocolates on the pillows and the lovely shortbread and sherry if you want it in the room. The staff were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The place is just charming and only a 2 minute walk into the pretty village of Haworth, thank you.

We've stayed in this hotel three times now and it never fails to disappoint. We got engaged here on our second visit, and the most recent trip was for a two night mini-moon break. On each trip we have stayed in a different hot-tub room and they have all been lovely. The Secret Garden Room and The Sanctuary Spa were our favourites. We've also stayed in The Retreat @ No 21 and, although it was lovely, the hot tub is in a conservatory rather than outdoors so you couldn't use it for very long as it got far too hot even with the windows and doors open.

We've not had an evening meal in the hotel, although we did hear other guests commenting on how lovely it was. The breakfasts are lovely though, and definitely set you up for the day.

The hotel location is perfect, just a few minutes walk from the top of the main street. There are some lovely pubs and restaurants in the village - we've tried a few of them out over the course of our visits and have never had a less than excellent meal.

Overall a brilliant hotel and we're hoping to be able to return again for our first wedding anniversary later this year.

Room Tip: The hot tub rooms are well worth the extra money, but try and go for one where it is outdoors rather...

Ashmount manages to sympathetically combine modern day amenities (such as wi-fi, hot tub) with many of the original features that the Bronte Sisters would have much admired. Most of the furniture is antique and much of the interior of the house, including the beautiful stained glass windows, is original. It is this care & attention to detail - both modern and traditional - that leads us to believe Ashmount to be the most comfortable accommodation with the finest restaurant in Haworth. ... more   less
