“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2013

We have just spent 2 really good nights at The Old Silent Inn and we can certainly recommend it for a relaxing break. All of the staff were a credit to the hotel and nothing was too much trouble creating a really homely atmosphere. The food and beer were excellent and we would have no problem persuading friends and family to spend some time there. One previous reviewer mentioned the "black pudding stack" starter was a must and after trying it myself I have to agree it was fantastic. All in all this place, at that price is an absolute bargain. We are looking forward to our next visit hopefully sooner rather than later.
Our only complaint is that we didn't get to see the resident ghosts but you can't have everything I suppose
Thanks for a great weekend

My wife and I were on the Pennine Way and stayed at the Old Silent Inn at the end of day 4.
It was a lovely old building, not far from Bronte country.
We had a warm welcome and the food was fantastic. The only downside was the room, it was very small and poorly decorated. Maybe we were unlucky and there were other rooms that were better but we got a bad one. It was a relaxing evening though and reasonably priced and highly recommend it even if you just go for a meal.

This is a very good Country Pub ( with rooms ), the rooms are en suite and very clean & tidy. The offer we had was for Bed & Breakfast ( £40 per couple ), providing we took our evening meal in the restaurant. The restaurant is above average and reasonably priced. Try the "black pudding stack" to start, followed by the "belly pork" - delicious.

Room Tip: The isolated location means that all rooms are quiet.

We have stayed in a variety of hotels and pubs in Wales and the north of England and this was the worst accommodation we have ever found.
The room was extremely dull and dingy with '80s wallpaper, a tiny old single glazed timber window 5ft above floor level and a central light comprising a tatty flat paper light shade hanging lob sided from the bulb. The sheets were clean but we did not wish to touch the other surfaces with bare feet. The en-suite comprised ancient basin and wc, whose wooden seat could not be positioned upright with the obvious consequences of male use, and a home made shower arrangement of an old tray, matching wall tiles and aluminium door with an acrylic ceiling panel on wall battens below a bare light bulb. Even the bed side cupboard coasters were creased and stained!!
We did not fancy sampling the food if this room was anything to go by.
What we have really regretted since is that instead of complaining at the end of a what had been a long tiring afternoon we made an excuse of having to return home and left as soon as we could. We could not fine alternative accommodation so we drove the 70 miles home.
The worst £50 we have ever spent.

The Old Silent Inn is always a favourite of ours. We either stay or visit just for the food & real ale whenever in the area. The Old Silent Inn is ideal as a base when touring Bronte Country. The room we stayed in was basic but clean but as we only needed it as a place to sleep it wasn't a problem. The room deal they do is brilliant, £40 for a double room which includes breakfast and is with the provisio you dine with them each evening. The meals were fantastic. There is a very friendly atmosphere and they are more than accommodating for dogs both in the inn and rooms. As dog owners we appreciate this.

this was our second visit to the inn and it was just as good second time around.the staff are so friendly and the food and beer superb.we got agreat deal...£180 for 2 rooms for 2 nights as long as we dined in the inn both nights.the inn is just a short drive to haworth and very handy to the m65/m6..The inn is very old with loads of character and a couple of roaring log fires...the bedrooms are only basic but spotless and for the price we paid superb value.A delicious breakfast starts your day...you cant go wrong..hope to be back soon...dave karen and my mum.

This is a favourite place of ours, the hotel has a warm homely feel to it, plenty of parking and really friendly staff, the rooms are cosy, clean and tidy, the food is great, very tasty and good choice on the menu and always somthing on the special board, the breakfast sets you up for the day, Haworth is just up the road. and Scartop is worth a visit. See you again soon

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the car park
