“Medical conference and book launch at The Old White Lion oct 5th -7th 2012”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

First rate venue, staff, facilities, food and refreshments

The staff helped us to launch our new book 'Poems on Prescription'
They were totally understanding; flexible; helpful re unloading beforehand and loading up again at the end. Parking not a problem. Food delicious. Tea, coffee, water snacks plentiful during the conference sessions. Bar excellent and not noisy. Table arrangement couldn't have been better.
Staff unobtrusive but thinking ahead and proactively-helpful. I hope to go again soon.
Book early to avoid disappointment.

Room Tip: i was non-resident at the conference -so cannot comment on the rooms or sleep.

Stayed last weekend for a Medical Writers conference and very, very impressed.

As soon as you walk through the door, you are made to feel welcome by the friendly reception staff for whom nothing is too much trouble.

The food was plentiful and very tasty both in the restaurant and bar, the bed supremely comfortable, the conference facilities ideal.

The location of course adds to the experience as it is only 2 minutes walk from the Bronte Parsonage museum, on the edge of the moors and at the top of a cobbled street of traditional and trendy shops and cafes. Come here with a Bronte novel and relax and absorb the atmosphere, or with your walking boots to explore the moors and discover Wuthering Heights and possibly even Heathcliffe!

We first visited this hotel 16 years ago and have been going back ever since. That really says it all. Despite a round trip of 600 miles as we live in NE Scotland, we feel it's well worth the journey.
On arrival, there is always a warm welcome and never any query about the time, whether we are earlier or later than stated. All receptionists are friendly and make time to chat on a daily basis, despite the fact that they probably have more pressing matters to attend to.
Over the years we have stayed in many of the rooms and found them all to be excellent in different ways - whether it be the view, the size or simply the room we wanted. All rooms are immaculate and very comfortable. The cleaning staff are very particular and manage to maintain a high standard regardless of how busy they are.
The standard of meals in both restaurant and bar is consistently good and service is quick and efficient. The presentation of each meal is excellent which adds to the enjoyment. Breakfast is cooked to order and no matter what combination of food you ask for, it's never a problem.
This year we noticed straight away that some changes had been made to the hotel. The dining room tables and chairs have been upgraded but are still in keeping with the original features. There are new windows in the bedroom and the net curtains have disappeared. That took a bit of getting used to when changing!
All in all, yet another enjoyable break. Well done everyone. We wouldn't stay anywhere else!

Stayed here Friday the 7th Sept! We found sll the staff extremely helpful , ESP the receptionist ! We stayed in Room 14, a lovely room , as all rooms here it was immaculate, the bathroom was beauty personified, they must have THE best cleaning staff ever! We've already booked to come bk the 28th with 10 family members! Free parking also which is a bonus! The food here is exceptional , we've ate here many times over the years and NEVER been dussspoInted! Our breakfast was piping hot and cooked to perfection ., only 1 waitress at breakfast but she was , as all the staff here, great, nothing was too much for her and she never got flustered des lpite having quite a few people to look after ! This is how a hotel / pub should be run and the owners of the nearby black bull should spend a week here to see how it's done! Only dissapointment for me was the lack of variety of beers in the bar , but that is a very minor point, The Fleece more than makes up for that ! Overall great staff, lively food , and the rooms , ESP 14 and 15 are a joy to stay in !!! Looking forward to the 28 th and our return !

Booked in to this hotel on a recommendation while attending a meeting in Keighley West Yorkshire, if you have ever read any of my other reports you will know I like a laugh but also expect good standards. This hotel meets both and more!! from the moment you turn onto the cobbled street leading to the hotel and realise you are staying in a protected area with old fashion sweet shops small churchs and lot's to see and do, you realise this is special. The hotel has all the charm of a building that has been a hotel/coach house since time began, but the staff are very modern in there approach. Clean, efficient and professional but the lady who runs the place is an old fashioned Yorkshire Lass "not afraid to give you a clip round the ear if you mess her around" I loved it!!

Room Tip: get a room on the number 8 side, the view is fantastic by day or night
