“Overall a good stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012

I stayed for one night on a business trip and found the facilities - gym, pool, steam room etc to be very nice and the staff there very helpful. Front desk staff were also helpful and welcoming. I thought the room was a little bit tired considering the hotel's international reputation but it was OK.

I ate in the Zest bar and the food was good, with a decent choice and very attentive staff. I was surprised to learn that the hotel does not offer free wi-fi in the rooms and the only way to get a free hour was to sit in the bar, which must be awkward at busy times but was not an issue when I was there.

Overall a good experience in a comfortable and welcoming hotel. I would stay there again.

We stayed for two nights 23/24 November. After 3 hours travelling because of an accident on the M62 we were greeted by the friendly front desk staff. Whilst our stay at the hotel was OK. I would say that it was only average. The room 231 we had was in need of updating. The bed was not that comfortable and the pillows to soft. Also the room temperature was to hot. ( we did turn the radiator down) The bathroom was dated. The door handle had been replaced badly, with the old screw holes still showing. The breakfast was only OK the bacon was overcooked and the toaster needed a degree to work. The checkout was speedy, but we were not asked if we had enjoyed our stay.

The hotel was very clean and tidy the food was good quality breakfast was however I felt the staff were not as accommodating to my partner but treated me well and unfortunately we come as a package deal treat people as you want to be treated. I would recommend this hotel for quality but poor customer service.

A warm welcome and an early check in helped us relax after a long drive from Surrey. The twin room (2 doubles) overlooked a wooded grass bank to the rear of the hotel which offered a quiet location. The room as is usual was clean and comfortable and the beds excellant; bathroom was light and well serviced. Breakfast overlooking the front gardens was a treat, lots of well cooked food and a good variety and the staff well trained. I would have no hesitation in returning here and it is just a couple of miles to Saltaire and the Worth Valley Railway.

Stayed for a weekend break recently and were sadly disappointed. The hotel is in a beautiful location, reception staff were very welcoming and really helpful with enquiries regarding local info. The room was OK, view almost non existent as we had a corner and could only see a bit of grass and wall of the hotel. Bed had some sort of mattress topper which didn't fit and pillows were so soft there was no support to them. Not sure why but coffee and tea seemed to be rationed - two sachets of both normal and decaf, same for tea and milk? We were given more coffee on request. Breakfast was dire!! Restaurant Manager seemed to be dashing around and not attending to guests, she never even acknowledged anyone with a "Good Morning", let alone a smile. Same for the staff who all seemed to be unsmiling and not happy with their jobs. Hot breakfast buffet was very poor, lots of empty dishes or what there was was not fresh. There was a queue both mornings for hot buffet and fried eggs which were freshly cooked (if the chef was there) but who wants eggs cooked swimming in oil? Yuck!! If you wanted toast, you had to queue again, especially bad when some of the bread items did not look fresh.
Absolutely not the standard I would expect from a hotel such as a Marriott

Spent 2 days and 1 night here in November. Hotel is in a lovely location, very peaceful. Check in was prompt, the room was the usual quality standard I expect from a Marriott. The only meal I had was breakfast which was great. The gym, pool area and changing rooms are amongst the nicest of the Marriott's I have stayed at; however my 1 criticism is that 1 part of the pool was dedicated to swimming lessons, the main part of the pool was dedicated to lane swimming and the only part available to kids was a strip along the side. I was told however that during school holidays there are no swimming lessons so that part become available for recreational splashers as well. However, that still limits the enjoyment so not sure i would take my kids there. Overall though it was a good stay and I would go back.

we tend to love marriot hotel's but this kinda lacked something !?! Stopped on a friday night and it was at it's best a 3rd full and after paying £120 a room you would expect a decent room why they put you at the back off the hotel with no view apart from a scabby banking and kitchen area is mind blowing leaving all the front room's with a view empty most bizarre not a good to tempt you to come again !!! Room was tired had a nice stain on the carpet bathroom dated and the tea tray ,,why only 4 micro milks with 6 coffee's and 4 teas the maths dont add up !! the bar was very very very expensive £3.90 a pint and a full £ 6.00 for a small glass off wine ,when you know u can get a good bottle for cheaper it kinda makes you not want to drink there as your being ripped off why dont they encourge you to spend time in the bar with cheaper drinks ?? Food aswell massive ripoff . Breakfast was nice toaster never worked mind and the sausage was very raw in the middle but the rest was edible and the service was ok apart from nobody asked if we wanted more tea or coffee which when the staff were milling about because it was quiet seemed strange . swimming pool not bad but beware if you have kids they are allocated 1 lane because off swiiming lessons and so on from none guest's ..all in all a big let down from 1 off our favorite chain hotels we wont be back to the hollins hall hotel sorry to say !!!

Room Tip: ask for front facing as back one's are poor
