used to come here a lot as a child, it was fun when they had the working horses and opened up the houses to look around. bit disappointing now as it is not as good as it used to be, but the christmas market is great each year so it is worth a visit for that

“treasure trove”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012

Can't believe this place is free to visit - it's wonderful for all the family. Shame that the horses have gone though but still enjoyed our visit.

“Love this place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

I've been coming here occasionally since I first visited with family when I was a kid - probably around 35 years ago. To be honest things haven't changed very much at all in that time and the place is none the worse for all that. You will NOT find much in the way of hands on technology, unlike many modern museums which let you press lots of buttons but have little in the way of real exhibits. The exhibits here are real, solid and impressive. Try and visit on a day when the steam engines are running (I think Saturdays and some Wednesdays). In contrast to the racket in the spinning and weaving galleries during demonstrations, what is most surprising is how quietly all the power to drive the machinery is generated.

The smell of the steam, machine oil and the lanolin-impregnated flooring is a wonderfully evocative indicator of mill life.

Heartily recommend a visit here - in my opinion worth travelling some distance for but also worth combining with other local attractions (Cow & Calf rocks, Otley Chevin, National Media Museum) to make a good day out.

“Better than expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

We've made a few trips to Bradford Industrial Museum since our first trip when we didn't expect much.

There are some great permanent exhibits (such as the trolley buses, looms, tank engine and classic vechicles).

My grandad (who was a printer) was a bit rude about the quality of the printing exhibit, but our kids enjoy looking at the machinery and vechicles.

We've enjoyed the history of Bradford bits and in particular the Steam Punk exhibition that had.

It's free and a great way to spend part of the day.
