The staff are so friendly and very helpful. I must have driven them mad with all the room changes I've requested over the past year, but they're always keen to please and at no time have I felt that they were anything but happy to help. The staff really are genuine and lovely. The breakfasts are excellent - I asked for red bush tea once and they had it for me the next visit.
There's no swimming pool and I haven't yet tried the gym.
Architecturally though it scores an easy 20/20. I love it & when the manager gave me a guided tour of the two ball rooms - wow! Stunning features all round. According to the company website: "The Midland Hotel, Bradford was built between 1885 and 1890 by the Midland Railway Company. The Hotel was a showpiece for the railway company's northern operations, and is of particular architectural interest, with some of the finest Victorian interiors in the city.
Today sees a hotel that has undergone a transformation, with investment to all areas of the building, restoring it to its original greatness. Situated in the heart of Bradford, 100m from Bradford Forster Square Station, a stay in the Midland Hotel is a uniquely relaxing experience. Step back into an era long gone, but with all the facilities of the 21st Century."
The rooms I've had have always been good to very good. Yes, there are some rooms which are a bit noisy (I think it's the plumbing or the boilers?) Always clean, and some of the refurbished ones are really lovely.
I do love the hotel - sit in the entrance hall and admire the majestic staircase and the wall hangings, or step back in time with a walk down the passages to the car park.
The only real problem with staying in The Midland is that a modern hotel will feel rather soulless after a stay here.

I would like to thank you most sincerely for taking the time to write a review and might I say how very complimentary you have been; thank you so much. It is always an extreme pleasure to welcome back previous guests and a test for us as we have to ensure our level of customer care is visibly better than on past visits. I hope that in your opinion, we have continued to improve both the facilities and service levels though the year. Furthermore it is hoped that you’ve seen positive changes within the development of Bradford city centre since you have been staying with us, particularly with City Park opening in March.
I look forward to welcoming you back to the Midland Hotel again very soon, but in the meantime thank you most kindly for your very generous comments regarding the standards of food, service and facilities at the hotel.
I would like to add my best seasonal wishes to you and your family.
