“Totally overpriced and unhelpful! If you have food allergies avoid at all costs!”
On an impromptu staff lunch outing we visited Prezzo, as an Italian restaurant I thought it would be easy enough to order some plain chicken and pasta. On arrival I explained to the waitress I have allergies and asked if it was possible to have plain chicken and pasta as i have allergies, she said she wasn't sure and would check, she then came back and said yes, just to double check I asked do you put anything on your chicken, she said no, just to check further I asked if they marinated their chicken to which she replied yes, garlic and a number of other spices! So glad I asked as garlic is one of my allergies, I asked if they had any chicken that wasn't marinated and she said they didn't. By this point I was pretty resigned to the fact lunch was going to be pretty rubbish for me but being I was starving hungry just asked if I could have a plain bowl of pasta. When the meals came out she bought me a small cereal sized bowl of fusilli pasta. We all commented on my rather pathetic portion and unappetising meal but I ate it to fill myself up. The biggest shock was when the bill came out and I found they had charged me £6.50 for a handful sized bowl of plain pasta with no sauce, oil or anything! Thinking there was some mistake I asked the waitress and she confirmed that was the price as they had to put it through as sausage and pasta. Disgusted I paid the bill but will never eat in Prezzo again, it's shocking in this day and age companies continue to ostracise people with allergies and be so unhelpful. To charge £6.50 for something that probably cost them 12p to make is disgusting!
