“Very pleasant country B & B”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2011

Stayed on the back of a visit to nearby Goodwood races. Our host offered to run us in to nearby Pagham to a local pub for our evening meal and gave us inside information on the various hostelries in the area. The ensuite facilities were clean and efficient and we were given a key to come and go as we pleased.
Breakfast was the full English with a choice of how you liked your eggs, various fruit, cereal and yoghurt alternatives were also available. Well cooked and filling with fruit juice, tea & coffee also freely available.
A very pleasant and affordable place to stay which I would recommend to anybody who likes warm hospitality as a pre requisite.

I only wanted to stay somwhere nice for a night - availability was on LR so i phoned direct as some times you get a better offer as 'hotel' doesn't have to pay out for commission.
I was told the room would only be available if there were two of us. I dont mind paying the room rate - they can serve me two breakfasts if they like but single travellers are obv not welcome.
I would't usually review such nonsence on TA but when places to stay are actively so discriminating - it makes me mad. I did find somewhere nice to stay and it wasn't here.

We recommend after very nice and relaxing two nights at the Chapel Forge to exactly book the rooms in the Chapel, which make every visit a historic, luxurious experience. Having travelled some parts of the world there was not one thing to miss. You have everything around, countryside, beaches, restaurants and last but not least and the most important very kind and generous hosts of this perfect weekend getaway.

Room Tip: Chapel Suite

A friend and I stayed one night after a trip to Chichester Festival Theatre. Booked four months in advance, we had no problems with the booking. Sandra made us very welcome. We had a twin room in the main house, which meant we didn't have to brave howling rain to get to breakfast in the very friendly warm farm house kitchen. And WOW what a breakfast. Good quality food cooked lovingly in an AGA - we didn't need to eat anything else for the rest of the day! The room was spotlessly clean, with plenty of choice of drinks and biscuits. We ate out at a local pub - the Lamb at Pagham - on Sandra's recommendation, which was not a disappointment. We can't wait to visit again!

We were pleased to find this lovely B & B just outside Chichester. Sandra and Charlie were excellent hosts and the breakfast was very special. It was lovely to sit round the table and talk to other guests (only to find we had a mutual acquaintance - small world!) We also really appreciated the 'Eco' friendly aspects of Old Chapel Forge. The room was comfortable with everything we needed (apart from milk for a cup of tea) The only thing we didn't like was the thinness of the bedroom walls when the guests in the adjoining bedroom had a pretty 'active' night and it sounded as if they were in the same room! Not ideal for a good nights sleep!

We stayed 3 nights in May 2011 with our little dog Hilton. Immediately on arrival the owner Sandra made us feel very welcome and we soon got into the swing of fabulous home cooked breakfasts around the kitchen table with other guests, lots of chat and tips on where to visit. This really made the holiday feel special. Even when our dog chewed the plug off the wine fridge in the room this was not a problem. Very relaxed and laid back. the Chapel room we stayed in was superb, full of home amenities and door opens only lovely quiet sun terrace overlooking fields.

Very handy for the coast with great pebbly beaches of Pagham and Bognor within walking/short driving distance. Would highly recommend for couples/families alike.

We stayed in the family cottage for 3 nights. Sandra gave us a very warm welcome, and we got to know her and her family over the weekend, including 3 recently born goslings. Our 7 year old son, particularly, had a great time as Sandra is informal and likes to involve the children if they show an interest. All guests have breakfast round a large farmhouse table, and we had some interesting exchanges and learnt about lovely places to visit. The cottage is well provided for with two separate ensuite bedrooms and our own entrance, which is ideal for a family with children. The rooms have lots of useful additions of toiletries, teas and coffees, DVDs etc so that we felt at home. The cottage is a simple bungalow at the back of the house, but it is nicely furnished and with good sized rooms. We had thought it would have been a more historic property from the pictures on the website, but after an initial disappointment as we were celebrating a wedding anniversary, we actually found ourselves more relaxed in a less historic environment. We were given a separate breakfast menu each day to select our breakfast and the food was good, and extremely generous. Sandra was keen to let us know about places to visit and is very knowledgeable about the area. This was very helpful in planning our days out.
We would highly recommend it to families as it provides some privacy, a relaxed environment to stay in, and great host for kids and some delightful memories. Our son enjoyed his own tea making facilities and made us our first cup of tea in bed!
