“An absolute find!”

West Stoke House

This is such a lovely place I alsmost don't want to tell anyone about it!

West Stoke House is a very charming restaurant with rooms just outside Chichister. We stayed for just one night in the Brown room. An absolutely enormous room with a very, very comfortable bed overlooking the garden.

Dinner took us completely by surprise. I read the reviews and saw that the food was good but I didn't expect it to be quite so fantastic. Service was impecable.

I can't think of a single thing I didn't like about West Stoke House. We will most certainly return.

Visited for Sunday lunch.

Warm welcome at reception with offer of pre-drinks on lawn.
Garden well maintained, large lawns and mature trees.

Very good quality food including home made bread and deserts.
£27.50 3 courses. Roast beef is excellent.
Dining room well presented with white table cloths, chic tableware and cool flowers.

Coffee again served at tables in garden.

Hotel a bit on the rustic side, tables & chairs a bit of a miss match and some 'tired' in reception - however this is somehow part of the character.

Worth a visit. Will return again.

Fantastic stay, booked months ago for our anniversary, and was totally overwhelmed.

west stoke is just outside chichester in alittle village, the house has fantastic grounds and our room had the most amazing view, i think it was called jeans attic.

We booked dinner for 8.30 and went down for drinks in the comfy chairs in the hall, we had our dinner menu described to us by the manager richard who realy new his stuff, we are for his advice with our wine choice and had the best bottle of red ever.

food was to die for , each course getting better, we finished with a hot souffle which just blew us away.

breakfast was really nice freshly cooked, lovely juice and choice of newspaper, after we strolled round the grounds then made our way to the national reserve kingley vale just next door dor a 2 hour walk which was amazing.

we cant wait to go back and have booked our next visit for february which was the first weekend available.

Since we live about 3 miles away in Chichester, it might seem odd for us to spend a night at West Stoke House. But since it is our favourite place to eat, my boyfriend booked us in for a meal and a night in the French Grey Room as a birthday treat. The whole experience was wonderful - from being greeted like old friends, to having G&Ts on the terrace, to our fabulous meal, and the enormous, stylish yet relaxed bedroom.

The room was enormous and had a lovely contemporary bathroom (with a massive shower not a bath) and Occitane toiletries. There was a huge plasma telly and probably a Roberts radio. There were huge windows looking out over the grounds to the front and back. The linen was wonderfully smooth egyptian cotton. The bed was of course supremely comfy.

As a pair of devout foodies, the quality of food means everything to us and we've returned to West Stoke several times for both the normal menu (roughly £35 for 3 courses)and the tasting menu (roughly £75 for 5 courses each accompanied by a specially chosen wine). Both are excellent value for the exceptional quality of the food.

Rowland the owner is a benign, happy presence, and Richard the maitre d' is the perfect mixture of friendly, informative and informal. It's very much like staying with friends - albeit ones with a fabulous country house and an excellent chef.

We're lucky to live so close to somewhere so reliably exceptional.

“very warm welcome”

West Stoke House

We had been given a voucher as a present for 2 night’s bed and breakfast at West Stoke House. Due to our very hectic schedules it had taken us nearly 2 years to use it but it was definitely worth the wait. Rowland greeted us on arrival and was very friendly, talking to us about the house and showing us around our room.
We were in Jeans Attic a room in the eaves of the house with a lovely view of the gardens.
Very nice big bed with lovely bed linens and a Contempory bathroom with L’Occitane products and a great sized bath
Breakfasts were very good with a nice range available and all freshly cooked. I am a vegetarian and felt that I was well catered for.
We also had dinner in the restaurant on our second night as they only open Wednesday to Sunday. The service was very good, the food was lovely and the set menu means it is reasonably priced, my partner particularly liked his starter which he described as electric. We had a nice break in the sitting room before desert was served and we also had coffee there.

The hotel is very well situated for Chichester and the coast with lots to see and lovely walks.
Overall a very good experience, we look forward to going back and have already recommended it to friends, it’s not a cheap bed and breakfast option but for a special short break only an hour from London it’s great
