“Waste of Money, Waste of Time”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

We spent £14 for 2 adults to see this museum. It was my birthday and had wanted to look inside for a while. The ground floor is Roman baths but akin to a building site. The first floor is a huge emotionless room with a large square display case in the middle full of odd bits and pieces. Up the second flight of stairs, nice view of the public toilets across the road and a bit of a glimpse of the cathedral .... not much here either to get excited about. Walked around it all in I would say 5 minutes !! I liked the museum before, a bit quirky, set in an old house, lots of interesting things to see. Would definitely recommend Horsham Museum. Its full of local things, its free and has a brilliant tourist information centre. Even the Tourist Information housed within The Novium is sparse to say the least. A couple of sad brochures and the rest you had to pay 50p or a pound for them. Worse museum ever visited !! Definitely don't bring children here, they will be bored rigid. Take them to the library across the street or even walk around the cathedral opposite which is free and adjoins the beautiful Bishops Gardens.

“Not worth the money”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

The old Chichester museum was quirky & cramped, but interesting & free.
This new one is spacious, bare, and very expensive. The Roman baths on the ground floor were quite interesting, but not enough to justify the expenditure of so much money. As for the rest of the display, all I can say is that my group struggled to be enthusiastic about anything & we will not be back.

“Novium”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

Overpriced and the most ugly building in Chichester - how was planning permission obtained for this carbuncle? The Roman remains could have been exposed and set in an open garden - there needs to be more open space in the city. Don't bother visiting!

“A lorra lorra money for not a lot”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2012

Eventually found this museum as it is quite badly signposted down some backwater off the high street. Very high entrance fee to view some roman foundations and not much else really. Spent most of the hour or so reading a cook book that I could have found in the library. Nonchalant, disinterested staff and too high an entrance fee - I think we paid fourteen quid for two adults.

“Great new museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

A great building a stone's throw from the cathedral show casing Chichester through the ages. The locals discovered the roman baths in the 1960s are built a car park over this to preserve them until they could create this space. On entering you see the main attraction, the ruins of the roman bath. Upstairs there is a thematic arrangement of artefacts from more than 2000 years of Chichester life and on the second view a splendid view of the Cathedral. The museum has only opened this year and deserves to be successful. If it could lose the children entrance fee it would be 5 stars.
