“Pretty rooms, fantastic breakfast, great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2012

When I visit the theatre in Chichester I like to stay overnight at the George Bell House. It is an easy walk from the Chichester Festival Theatre. It is within the grounds of Chichester Cathedral, and it feels like staying in a private house.
The rooms are very nicely decorated and well equipped. There is also reserved parking outside the House (hard to find in Chichester).
The staff are very helpful.
There is an extra charge for breakfast, but it is cooked to order and the portions are generous.
On our more recent stay we were joined by friends. They thought that their bed was too soft, so for those whose top priority is a firm mattress, my advice would be to look elsewhere.
Otherwise, I would certainly recommend the George Bell House.

Room Tip: I always ask for a room with a view of the cathedral.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2012

We stayed at the venue for the night as a friend was having his wedding reception in the house. We went up to our room to drop our bags off and found a nice sized room with a large comfy bed. We returned to the party and found that the staff where helpful from the moment the party started till the last guest had left. We spoke to one of the staff as we had popped up to the room and found the heating was not working, within 5 mins they had rushed up a electric heater and the issue was sorted. The breakfast in the morning was great value and was made with great quality produce. I would be more than happy to stay here again.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2011

We were looking for a place to stay when visiting the theatre in Chichester, and alighted upon George Bell House. Our (standard) room was spacious enough, clean, and quiet - there's not a lot of sound insulation in the windows, but the road is a cul-de-sac, and after 7pm, you get very few people on the road, so it really didn't matter. Bathroom spacious and modern. Didn't have time to try the cooked-to-order breakfast, but what I could see of others' it looked very nice. We will definitely try to book here next time we visit Chichester.
