“Lovely Sunday lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

There were a lot of tasty-looking things on the menu and I chose roast beef. The roast(ed) potatoes were small and crispy, just how I like them and overall my lunch was excellent. My husband really enjoyed his fish and chips too. The sticky toffee pudding was the best we had tasted. My only suggestion to the chef - don't bother with the cress garnish with the roast, it really didn't need it!! We hope to return before too long.

“Gem of a Pub Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

The pub is located at the bottom of Bury Hill and you'd expect the road noise to be intrusive. Far from it. The interior is an oasis of calm and punctuated by the sounds of happy customers quietly enjoying the excellent country pub fare.

The food is beautifully presented and hard to fault. My haddock and chips was succulent and very fresh, complimented by thick chips that were crispy on the outside and beautifully fluffy in the middle.

Would I go back? I have, several times. A great country pub serving honest home cooked food at reasonable prices. What more could you ask for?

“Great for the family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

I think you always take a chance going to a restaurant on a speacial day ie Mothers Day as everyone has the same idea, and the venue is normaly packed to the rafters, thus taking the edge off of the food by the shear weight of numbers. Having been to the Squire a few times I took a chance , I was not dissapointed the food and service were great , My rump of lamb was superb, and my wifes liver and bacon was to die for "she said". The puddings were brilliant with one sticky toffee pudding and one chocolate suprise hitting the right spot . A great time and it was obvious that the staff were well prepaired for the day and the kitchen handled everything thta was trown at them with shere professionalisam.

“Delicious home cooked food.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

Delicious home cooked food, all freshly prepared, nothing reheated here. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. The roated lamb rump with potato and pancetta pie, cherry tomatoes and baby spinach was divine, as were the barbequed calves livers and smokey bacon on creamy mash, served with a red wine glaze. I would thoroughly recommend the desert selection for two, absolutely amazing. We will definately be back.
