This hotel is set in the middle of a golf course close to Arundel. The major problem is that it has no lift, and getting up over 30 stairs to our room (we are both pushing 60) was something of a marathon.

The best thing about this hotel is the staff. They are without exception friendly and helpful, they went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. The few problems that we ran into were down to what they have to work with. For example the booking system made a complete hash of my reservation details, but it was sorted out in nothing flat. There was no electrician available to fix a faulty switch in our room, but they gave us free drinks. The printed menu is restricted and doesn't change, but the kitchen went a long way off-menu to cater for my wife's food allergy.

The bar service was excellent, the restaurant staff friendly and attentive, the food almost perfectly cooked (apart from one mistake, immediately rectified.) The room was clean and came with a welcome selection of complimentary drinks and nibbles.

All in all it was a very enjoyable little weekend break and we would return.

Room Tip: No lift, request ground floor if not very fit.

We booked a table for afternoon tea and when we arrived were shown to a table and left there for nearly 10mins before anyone came to see us. We were asked what we wanted to drink (no tea menu which is what we have experienced at many other places) so we opted for Earl Grey as we had no idea what the other choices were. The tea arrived and was hardly hot at all. There were extra tea bags to make more tea once the pot was empty, but no other hot water to make this possible.
Then we get to the food.... well, where do I start! The sandwiches were nothing like I had ever experienced before. Smoked salmon and HORSERADISH! Yes that is what it says, and it doesnt stop there, one of the sandwiches just contained caramelised onion chutney with raw red onion and another with just cranberry sauce. Maybe the chef had gone home or they had run out of some stuff but they were simply awful. No wonder the waiter didn't tell us what were in the sandwiches. The scones (1 each) looked like they had been bought from the co-op and sliced in half and heated to appear fresh. Now the "dainty cakes" were another level of awful. There was a small piece of chocolate sponge that we couldn't even eat as it was so dry (we had run out of tea by now and there was nobody to ask for more water) We then attempted the other 2 cakes which actually turned out to be the same cake just cut in to 2 different shapes to disguise that they were actually the same and again it was so dry it was not edible.
Not once during our hour there did anyone ask if our food or drink was ok or offer us and further drinks.
This is by far the worst afternoon tea we have ever had and at one of the most expensive per person (£19.95) we would have expected far better!! We will not be returning!

We stayed for the Chichester Observer Business Awards. Our room was very comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was amazing. The hotel is a lovely place to relax and very good if you like golf. The staff are very friendly and the service was very good.

Hilton hotels are generally clean and you know the standard to expect. This is a slightly tired Hilton which needs a bit of investment/TLC. The furnishings are standard Hilton and adequate, and the rooms are large. But there is no atmosphere and the corridors are distinctly 1970s. The restaurant however has generally very good, quick service, especially by Timi. Most residents during the week at this time of year are business guests, so quick service is essential. The scallops were particularly good as a starter and the sea bream was an absolute delight and the best meal of my 3 night stay. Other mains: chicken supreme main course was a bit dry and the salmon I found rather boring. Breakfasts are good but staff found it difficult to keep up with the demand for fried eggs! Bedrooms are ok, but the shower was an old-fashioned one which came straight off the hot and cold water taps meaning you have to mix the temperature yourself. This is very old-fashioned - I haven't had a shower like that for some years. Pillows are the best, as usual, but mine needed a good launder as they smelled a bit. Lorts of banging doors, too. Not the best Hilton by a long way but I think this is reflected in the room rates and not much to complain about if I'm honest. I would rather stay in Brighton but I don't want to pay Brighton Hilton prices!

hotel and room nice.. service good nice swimming pool spa and steam room they do excellent breakfast nice area nice place to stay overnight good for couple and family you can play tennis and golf swimming pool outside too

Disappointed in the dreary business room we were put into. The corridor leading to our room was tatty with stained carpeting and dreadful tatty wooden wheelchair ramps. Our room was for a businessman with a desk and no drawers and nowhere in the bathroom to put anything. I feel it is very mean when a Hilton hotel does not provide one small packet of biscuits in the room. We have had this before at the Metropole in Brighton and staff agree that it is very mean. I hardly slept as every time I moved in the bed the creaking was dreadful and also the toilet constantly ran after being flushed. Regarding the shower, most of the shower holes in the head were blocked and unless you held the shower onto your body it was warm rather than hot. Staff were great, especially the barman, but they were all very friendly and without them this hotel would have got a worse rating. Also the breakfast was excellent and the bar food in the evening very good. I know that this hotel is full when Goodwood has events and obviously management think they don't need to bother with decoration etc but we would not stay here again as it was very poor value for money, drab and not what you come to expect from a Hilton hotel.

Very disappointed in the quality of food. Firstly we was put in a drab room 3 of us at a table that seats 2. Sandwiches were stale, not enough for us each to have 1 each of the different fillings, squirt cream instead of clotted cream for the scones which was presented to us with MARMALADE and the supposedly dainty cakes looked like slabs of bread pudding shame they didn't taste as good. The reduction in price that we was given certainly didn't make up for the disappointing afternoon tea which by the way was poured out of flasks not just boiled. Thanks hilton for a rubbish tea.
