“AMAZING”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

I always go out my way to eat here. Sometimes you wait up to 40 minutes for your food, but the wait is well worth it. The restaurant has been re decorated and looks good. The staff literally run to you. I have taken friends here and they want to come back. I recommend the mix grill with two nans and fries....... Guaranteed it will not the carnivores down.

“Great Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

I went here with my family. The upstairs family room is great as you can cordon off your table with the curtains to give you some privacy. The service was excellent, some reviews have mentioned issues with the service but it is a different style rather than being a form of poor customer service. Being a Muslim restaurant, it is not expected for male waiters to hover around the table for too long when females are present - this doesn't affect the customer service, food arrives on time and the waiter came back frequently to make sure everything was fine. I ordered the Afgani Steak and Chips (£6 or £7 I think) and there was plenty of it, not a stingy portion like you get in some places, the Lamb Karahi was amazing and the chicken wings were served with onions on a hot, sizzling dish. Even a fussy eater can't fault the chips which were not the usual frozen, greasy mess but actually cooked to perfection. I had the mango lassi (yoghurt/mango milkshake type drink) which was simply the best! I actually love this place, prices are reasonable as well. The only negative is finding parking as it is a busy road but that's a minor problem in comparison to the food.

Visited here whilst in Coventry on a visit after reading Tripadvisor. WOW! Great food, generous portions, helpful and polite staff. Will be visiting again when next in Coventry.

“Poor Service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

I have been to this place several times. The service has always been poor, the food cold and the staff behave like buffoons.

Never again

“Delicious charcoal-grilled food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

As an exiled Coventry Kid I'm always interested to try new places there when we visit. So this looked an interesting choice for a quick lunch, and so it proved.

On arrival we were shown to a quiet table which gave us a chance to take a look at the barbecue area and some of the food ready to go on it. The array of meaty goodies was amazing, as were the aromas of food already cooking. We were quickly brought menus and a jug of water by the friendly waiter, whose willingness to help was slightly hampered by his less-than-perfect English.

We ordered a Chapli Kebab as it was recommended, plus a Chicken Tikka. The Tikka came with a nan, so we ordered an extra one as we planned to share everything. The Chapli kebab turned out to be a flat, plate-sized version of something similar to shami kebab, very tasty with nan and the sauces provided, spicy yogurt and chilli. The Tikka was absolutely superb, arriving with onions on a sizzling iron platter, and there were 14 big chunks. We watched this being cooked, first in the tandoor, then on the grill, then the sizzler, and it was as good as any we've ever eaten. The very pleasant owner ensured we were happy with everything.

Yes, it's a bit basic there. But it's a cafe, so formica tables are expected. And the bill was just a tenner! A bargain for a tasty and filling lunch. There are plenty of things we still want to try on their menu so we'll be back. But the grilled food will be top of the list.
