“Nice food but stick to the set menu”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

Beautiful restaurant, we felt the three course set menu was of a higher standard to the ala carte (strange considering the ala carte is dearer!) all in all a very nice restaurant.

“Not so good second time around!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

Today was our second visit to Coombe Abbey for afternoon tea. We were very disappointed this time in comparison with our visit some 2 years ago. The choices and quality of fillings were very poor and the bread was stale. It was obvious to all four of us that the sandwiches had been made for some considerable time before they were delivered to our table and we doubted very much that they had been covered over in the meantime. The quantity of jam for the four of us to go with the scones (which were probably one of the best things on offer) was minute. With hindsight we should have complained about the sandwiches and if we ever make a return visit we wouldn't hesitate to do so.

“Unforgettable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

Living in the near area, I have had the pleasure of experiencing Coombe Abbey twice in the last three months. Firstly was a medieval night, what a night . 90% of people hired costumes, there were stag nights and hen nights plus couples, you get a four course meal and jugs of mead and wine all included in the price, there are wenches serving you, actors and singers they act a play and you have a good sing a long, and it is all very good fun, rude in places but all adds to the atmosphere, throughly recommended if you want something different.
Secondly I attended a wedding, it was superb very romantic and relaxed, the ceremony itself was gorgeous, drinks in the gardens with a string quartet, reception was brilliant and food, well what can you say, very impressive, we ended the night with a tremendous firework display. My only comment on the whole two experiences would be, make sure if you use the bar you have a deep wallet, drinks are pricey, but the experience is well worth it.

“Tea for two”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

We were bought tea for two at Coombe Abbey as a Christmas present. It took us until May/June to decide to go. It was busy to book at a weekend, which shows the popularity. However in July we got in and the whole thing was sublime. Staff very helpful and attentive. Laura particularly nice. Couple on table next to us were also defeated by the lovely grub on offer. Staff only too happy to provide a 'doggy bag'. Nice walk in the grounds and park afterwards to walk off the calories. Be aware that vouchers bought only last six months. Tip - buy voucher direct from the hotel, it's the same price and We had to cancel once because of work. Our rebooking took us a week or so outside the date, but the hotel were very good about it and honoured the deal. Fully recommend it as a present.
