Owner description: Brandon Marsh Nature Centre is the headquarters of the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust. Set in 220 acres, the Reserve, consists of large pools created by gravel extraction. The Visitor Centre is a great place to visit including a Tea Room and well stocked gift shop. Around the Centre you'll find the orchard, mouse maze, mini-beast homes, bird watching hides, recycled garden and a newly designed sensory garden (link to sensory garden project page) as well as an under-cover picnic area. Then it's off to the Onyx Nature Trail which guides you around the wildlife habitats of the nature reserve. The Reserve This reserve contains large areas of pools created by gravel extraction. It consists of reedbeds, willow carr, grassland and woodland. It is outstanding for birds and there are seven bird hides throughout the reserve. Gift Shop and Badgers Tearoom At the end of your visit what could be nicer than a cup of tea or snack in our 'Badgers' Tea Room and a leisurely browse around our gift shop. The shop is well stocked with animal homes, bird seed, bird feeders and an extensive range of gifts and books. The tearoom serves a variety of hot and cold beverages, fresh cakes, and a comprehensive menu of snacks and meals. The Education Centre Brandon Marsh Nature Centre includes the Lafarge Education Centre - a purpose-built classroom, home to School Visits to Brandon for a variety of curriculum-related activities. We also have children's activities during the school holidays, and even Really Wild Birthday Parties! For grown-ups we also have a programme of Events and guided walks. The Sensory Garden After 1500 volunteer hours, the first chapter in the story of how our garden grew is complete with the official opening of the Sensory Garden at Brandon Marsh Visitor Centre on 19th May 2012.

“A nice quiet walk and a kingfisher”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2014

My mum and I went for a walk and day out, we were amazed by the size and quality of the reserve. It was a beautiful walk with lots of wildlife and well maintained bird hides. This mixed with a nice coffee shop and fresh BLT sandwich made a great budget day out (£2.50 each). Mum saw a kingfisher, we both saw our first hobby and I heard my first cuckoo, a must go place for bird watchers, photographers, walkers and children.

Hi Roxanne,

It's lovely to hear that you enjoyed your visit to Brandon, and that you saw and heard such a fantastic range of wildlife. I don't know if you noticed, but as you exit the visitor centre to walk onto the reserve, there are swallows that nest every year just outside the door. I think the chicks have just fledged this week. If you and your mum are members it's well worth visiting some of our other reserves, some of our woodlands for example are fantastic places to spot butterflies.

Kind regards,
Emma Richmond

“Great for nature - especially birds”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2014

This is a great place to get close to nature. There are lots of different habitats so the spread of things to see is very wide. If you enjoy watching birds [especially wildfowl] there are a number of hides overlooking various parts of the reserve. There is a trail which is accessible to people in a wheelchair, or who have mobility problems.

After walking round a visit to the cafe is recommended.

Join the Trust and you will get free access throughout the year. This is great value for money.

Hi,

Thank you for your kind review, it's great to hear that you're enjoying Brandon Marsh. Members can access the reserve out of visitor centre hours using the members' gate - so I would definitely recommend a late evening visit to the bird hides to catch a glimpse of the bats and the owls.

Kind regards,

“good value fresh food.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2014

My family often visit the cafe for lunch. We are always pleased with the choices we make, and being five of us visiting, it is really affordable. We stopped visiting other cafes when their prices made it too expensive to eat there, but Brandon Marsh Cafe delivers on everything.

“This is a great hidden treasure”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2014

We went here as it was an open day and we thought we would have a look. What a great little place. Take walking boots, a camera and binoculars. The hides are quiet, and well placed. Great for kids as well.
