“Tips and inspiration for organic gardening”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

Visited with friends and had a lovely time. Different areas are inspirational for any type of garden you have. Learnt something new about pruning techniques and heritage fruit trees.

Enjoyed food in cafe, though overpriced for what you get. Seds are cheaper than in other gardening centres I've been in london, bought a few.

Will be back when roses are blooming.

“Just the Cafe”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

We have been to the award winning restaurant several times when traveling through midlands. Checked on the Web and got up a menu and phone number. The lack of response to calling was ominous. When we arrived no one on desk (there is a shop and organic garden which charges entrance fee). No sign of restaurant just a cafe. Despite being empty the staff didn't immediately engage and continued talking with backs to servery. told they thought restaurant had closed more than a year ago....Garden Organic or new catering operators should get rid of old menus etc on their web servers!!!!!
Any how ordered food. Had the special..chefs pizza on soda bread. It was indeed special!! Ok in middle where the topping had made it soggy. For the crust and the bits around the outside we should have gone onto the garden to borrow a chainsaw. The soda bread was either yesterdays dried out leftovers or had been left out sliced. It was dry and so hard that other diners were at risk of being injured by fragments flying off as we sawed and stabbed a it.

Otherwise ok but no more. Not worth visiting the cafe and shop as someone else said just a glorified garden centre without much in way of plant stock. Still stocks a good range of seed but apart from a couple of trays of broad beans grown by Garden Organic the rest was a poor selection of bought in plants.

I stress we didn't visit garden which I think is still run by Garden Organic and has always been a source of inspiration

“Always something new at Ryton”

Worth visiting the gardens for ideas, inspiration and to work up an appetite for the mouth-watering cheese scones and coffee in the cafe!

“The Organic Gardens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

We visit here often, as we have a membership card. The indoor activities are nice for children, then once you walk outside, it's great for all the family. The flower beds and plants growing are changed often, so it'll never be the same twice, there's a large den building area which we all enjoyed. The picnic area is also lovely, with huge traditional games, such as droughts and connect 4 and jenga. Both adults and children alike will enjoy it here, and often they tend to have event days, the last one being, plant your own salad plant and make a fresh pizza. These days are great, and we tend to leave here with loads of little plants to grow at home.

“Glorified Garden Centre”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

This is just a glorified Garden Centre that charges you an entrance fee.
Took some friends who are very interested in Organics and they were not impressed either
