“Nice place to stay, needs to light better entrance indications.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2007

Nice hotel to stay, big ensuite room, nice furniture.
The water from the shower needs more power and be careful as if you select hot water you can be burnt fast.
There isn't any elevator to the first floor and the receptionist was just kind asking us about some help... no intention to help anyway.
We leave early so couldn't take any breakfast.
Later we took some tea and they brought it with some good cokies. Nice restaurant and bar area.
It's really difficult to find the hotel if arriving by night as the name outside is not light. There are some signals near but there are quite hard to understand the real place you must go.
This is an important thing to get better.

  • Liked — Quite place, rounded by nice trees, nice bar and restaurant areas.
  • Disliked — Paint in bedroom a bit tidy, water selection must be easily reached.

The hotel is situated in an excellent position a couple of miles outside the city. The hotel was clean all through. Our room was in the new part and was spacious and very clean with individual toiletries as well as the squeezy bottles in the bathroom. There was also a hospitality tray which was very clean and well stocked. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the staff were very efficient. We thought the starter was small(three field mushrooms on a small piece of ciabatta bread) but it tasted excellent. The main course was very good accompanied by roast pots and red cabbage and we had cauliflower au gratin as a side order which was superb.Overall this is an excellent hotel with friendly staff and suitable for all occasions.

I only stayed for one night on a business trip. It is a clean, modern hotel, nicely furnished. My room was clean and everything was in perfect working order. I had a room at the back and the view was wonderful. Lovely countryside and a little brook. The seating areas were comfortable with lovely big soft leather sofas. Apparently the food is something to write home about - I did not eat there in the evening as they only had one vegetarian option. It had brie in it and I loathe brie. The breakfast was reasonable, but yet again no specific veggie options.

The hotel is non-smoking throughout and it is lovely not to have to avoid public areas. The hotel smells really fresh. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay again if in the area.

The service here is very good with friendly, helpful and efficient staff. I was allowed to keep my car in the car park while visiting clients in town where there was little or no parking space, and any request was greeted with a ‘no problem’.

With regards to the character of the hotel there is an odd mix to be found here. The rooms are on the large side, tastefully furnished and clean. But why is there, bizarrely, no place (hooks, shelves, etc.) where to put one’s towels in the bathroom? Why were the rooms, obviously, refurbished not so long ago but the stained carpet and the old linoleum in the bathroom left in? Together with the squeeze bottles with the shampoo/soap combo in the bath instead of the usual small toiletries it is almost as if it were either a chain hotel that is trying to add some personal touches but cannot hide its underlying character - or a potentially cosy and even stylish place where the owners think the typical business traveller expects some scruffiness to feel comfortable.

Another aspect to consider is that the rooms to the front can be quite noisy. Brooklands Grange lies at one of the main arteries into Coventry and old, single glazed windows have very little effect in terms of noise reduction.

There is wireless Internet access but it does not reach all rooms!

Unfortunately, I had no opportunity to sample the restaurant.

All in all not a bad place for a business traveller but I’ll try a few others before I will come back here.
