I have just stayed at the Forest of Arden for a couple of nights to chill out. We received a very warm welcome on arrival at Reception and the staff were very helpful in assisting us with the various information we requested. The main reason for staying here was for the Spa treatments and i was not disappointed. The Cedarwood Spa is a fantastic experience and I can now understand why they are always so busy. The staff are so accomodating and the treatments are as good as I have experienced anywhere before.
We received good service from each member of staff we came into contact with and they could not have been more helpful. The bedrooms are adequate and comfortable but could do with air conditioning installing to cope with our warmer temperatures we are now experiencing! I understand the hotel is shortly to be refurbished and whilst some of the areas do look tired, from seeing the mood boards on display, it looks as if it will all be looking bright and fresh again soon. The food we chose was just ok but served with a smile so that made up for it. Hotel is in a great position out in the Warwickshire countryside but very close to Birmingham for retail therapy. Good choice of shops so well worthy a girly weekend for spa treatments and shopping.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — Friendliness of staff and the spa treatments
    • Disliked — signage to the spa was somewhat misleading, Hotel calls it the Country Club and there is no mention of spa!

“A Pleasant Stop”

While not right off of highway, this hotel is close to many attractions and has free gated parking. Definitely geared to the golf and tennis but was fine as a base for visiting Coventry, Stratford, Warwick, etc. The room was fairly large and quite nice. The hallways are very long and you can wind up with quite a walk from the elevator. Our room tended to be a bit prone to hall noise and the hotel noisy side. Hotel charges £15 per day for Internet access and £1.50 pounds for 0800 calls.

Stayed at the Forest of Arden last week on a work trip. While the hotel looks very grand as you drive up to it, I was disappointed by the decor of the interior. Everything looks very tired and dated, and I think without the golf amentities tagged onto this hotel then it would definitely not have a 5star rating. The beds in the rooms were very sloppily made, staff in the bar / restaurant could be a little moody, and due to the layout of the hotel, had a fifteen minute walk between reception and my room! Probably would stay here again but only on business and not for pleasure.

“Mediocre? Too kind”

The previous reviewer said 'mediocre' and 'way below standard'. He's right but too kind! The tatty decor, appallling restaurant (overpriced, slow and with a still frozen first course) and loud plumbing noises throughout the night ensure that this Marriott really does not justfy future visits. Sadly its doing good business which just shows how poor the alternatives are in this 'hotel graveyard' close to the NEC. Its just too easy for them and - as previous reviews illustrate - too many put up with too much.
