“Tired Holiday Inn”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2009

As like some other Holiday Inns, this feels tired and worn. Rooms are OK, not much more than a Travel Inn really, and clean. Staff are moderately useful, although the first time I stayed here I was given a room that already had an occupant (who was thankfully doing nothing more energetic than watching TV when I stumbled through the door). Breakfast is generally included in the £95 rate I pay, and is adequate, no more than that.

I wish there was another option in the area (not tried the Hilton yet, must do next time).

Having stayed at the Hilton the past 3 weeks i figured a change of scenery would be nice. Me and my restless nature, not a good idea.

The rooms are small, cramped and dark; I could use the desk from the bed, there was no room in the bathroom for my toiletries or any other things. If you open the bathroom door it practically touches the loo.
My sheets had grey stains on them and I found hairs. The bedspread is very thin and not comfy. And there are only 10 tv channels.
No herbtea, no cookies. O yes and the gym is very small and dark, pool looks okay.

Needless to say I didn'y stay for breakfast and moved back to the Hilton because I just could not imagine being in this hotel for 4 nights.

And then they hit you with a 50 pound early departure fee. This was not mentioned in any of my travel documentation, confirmations etc. but unfortunately it does say so on the check in confirmation. Another lesson learned. Check the small print.

On the plus sise; the conference part of it looks quite good, modern and up to standard.

Just back from a National Holidays mystery weekend and we stayed at this hotel.
We have stayed at a few Holiday Inns around the world and this one is just like the rest.
It is a middle of the road chain hotel. As we looked around the hotel we realised we have stayed in one with the same layout. That is why I do not like using a large chain hotel.

The room was better then OK. The bathroom maybe a little small. As for the evening meal if we had payed the full price for it, I would have been unhappy about it and if we had been staying for more then one night we would have used the pub down the road.On the other hand the breakfeast was great. The bar was a bit pricey but thats not new. It is also a dog friendy with a least 4 on the night we stayed but at £15 a night per dog not very cheap.

We recently stayed for two nights, all staff seemed to be very helpful. We ate in the restaurant for both evening and breakfast. Evening meals were a little 'standard' and we did need to comment that a starter did not exactly replicate what the menu stated. However, breakfast was varied and with no complaints whatsover. Did object though that meals were subject to service charge.
Generally the hotel was clean and comfortable throughout.

A typical Holiday Inn but one more geared to business and corporate events.
I stayed for a week with colleagues and found the hotel to be of a good standard.
All meals were buffet style with themes throughout the week e.g " indian night, Mexican etc , the food was very good.
Rooms are pleasant and clean, sometimes toiletries and milk was forgotten to be topped up, but thats all !
