“Herbert Art Gallery and Cafe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

A very good art gallery and museum with something for all ages and all tastes in art. If you are lucky and not too busy, the stagff will escort you to the underground crypt

Excellent cafe with a varied menu. Possiblly the best cup of coffee in Coventry

“Great little museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

We visited the Herbert Art Gallery today mostly for the dinosaur exhibit which was very small considering all the advertisement there has been for it. This temporary exhibit was the only bit that required payment for. Our daughter enjoyed doing the jigsaws and the colouring and operating the robot, but it didn't take long to go round the whole thing. We did, however find many other things in the museum to occupy her. There are various interactive areas in the museum where children can get a bit more hands on including a small area in one gallery with building blocks and then another with seashells and rocks. She really liked playing with the seashells and seeing the rocks glowing under both long and short wave UV. We didn't have a chance to check out the whole of the museum. There is a small exhibition on the Godiva Awakes thing. Being able to see the dress the giant Godiva puppet wore close up was pretty good.

“A few hours to spare to see history and modern.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

This is a really pleasurable place to vist with all sorts of interesting things to view both in relationship to the present and the past. I covers interesting facts about Coventry with exhibits some of it's industry and also gallery's covering most aspects of art, including some that is hard to define. The admission is free although sometimes they have special interests that come a small cost. From my perspective it's a place I tend to visit while in the city centre and check out new exhibits particularly of local artists. Often there are smal lecture groups discussing various art forms. There are plenty of at tenants who are only to willing to assist with any enquiry. So if you are in Coventry near the city centre and would like visit something different, then this is the pace to be. Enjoy.

Very big variety of artifacts. Worth visiting both alone and with family. It shows another side of Coventry through the centuries + it's free!
