“Faded glory”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

The definition of faded glory. The location is great, but no amount of flags will disguise the broken and neglected interior. Breakfast was alright, in a truck stop kind of way, but we didn't eat or drink there at any other time - so can't really comment, but if they're anything like the rest of the hotel, they could be summed up much the same. A mess.

Room Tip: Don't.

Nothing else to add really. Am typing this to give the required number of characters. I am not verbose.

There is too much to write, long story short...don't go!!!
Rude staff.
Dated rooms, no wifi available in the room.
Wall paper hanging off the walls, the most unhygienic bathroom.
Springs felt in the bed.
Expensive drinks, poor quality bar food from the bar.
One road - ROUGH.

A group of 7 of us stayed at this hotel for 3 nights over easter on a majestic coach tour.Well where should i begin ? The hotel was filthy,so dirty you could hardly see out of the hotel windows. The decor and curtains were dirty, the food was mainly bland and cold. The restaraunt had a burst water main so we had to eat in a conference room.On the first morning the chef did not turn up for work so the breakfast was cooked by the reception staff. The staff members did not know waht was happening in the hotel.Ever time we asked a question the answer was I don't know.We all had upset stomachs during our stay,we put that down to the food.I have to say this was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in.Never again, but we have had 3 other excellent majestic trips so will not be put off.

Just had a 4 day break with National Coaches staying at this hotel.(Fairfax Street, centre of Coventry)Due to a water burst the previous week,it was a toss up as to heating in bedrooms or the public areas,we had to sit with coats or jumpers on in the dining room /bar.It was -3degrees outside. There was not enough staff in the dining room, constantly no crockery, hot water for drinks or food being replemished. The manageress was totally ineffectual(couldn't see a problem). Our driver put complaints to his management who in turn was supposed to have complained to Britannia management.Still no improvement until the last morning.A guest was overheard complaining about herself and her children being placed on the 7th floor which is a smoking floor, her room reeked of smoke.DO NOT stay in this hotel until they get their act together,There is a travel lodge nearby, don't know what it is like but it has got to be better than this.National should never have sent us here and must take some of the blame!

checked in at 3:30 pm on a tuesday afternoon and was told i could use the restaraunt from 6:30pm. Arrived at the restaraunt at 6:30 and was told i couldnt be seated until 7:30 but could get a bar meal. Went to the bar but was told they do not do bar meals but could order room service. Returned to my hideous room with 20 year old decor and tv, aluminium fouble glazing with dirty windows and net curtains (yes they still exist) and tried to order room service to be told i couldnt order until 7:30 because the kitchen was busy. At 7:30 i again called room service to be told they were not doing it as the restaraunt was full with coach parties and there were only 2 chefs in the kitchen. My only choice wss to order a takeaway and have it delivered to the hotel. At 10:00pm the fire alarms went off as the 'gentleman' in the next room was smoking. The hotel literature does state that all rooms are smoking unless otherwise designated. Mine was not and even invluded an ash tray!! At 11:00pm there was what sounded like a fight in the bus station right next to the hotel. At 5:00 am I was woken by the buses revving their engines. Last but not least my breakfast did not arrive. It was a bowl of muesli. This awful hotel is located in an awful part of an awful city with no facilities close by. Apart from Gala Bingo. Don't ever stay here.

we stayed 3 nights. Rooms not bad but in need of redecoration. Meals basic not much choice what was on offer was ok but long queues as food kept running out . Total chaos on the morning we left as there was no control over the amount of people let in although there was supposed to be a timetable. Dining room was absolutely freezing. Manager came and said boiler had been repaired but still no heat. Bar /lounge no comfortable seating only very high wooden stools or very low leather sofas both difficult for elderly people to use. not recommend this hotel.
