“Ok for the Ricoh arena for us”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

We were going to a gig at the Ricoh, prebooked a carpark space, so only a short drive! We did have to queue to park so the 15min journey was more like 30 mins and 1 hour return, but it was a busy gig. The hotel looks awful concrete but not much they can do about it. Our room was clean and ok, bed comfortable, No air conditioning so had to have windows slid open a small amount so room hot. The hotel is tired, but staff were cheery and waiters at breakfast smart and helpful. Breakfast was fine, The bar when we got back from gig very busy but the one staff was still happy. The beer good price, and nice plate of sandwiches past midnight. Reception in the morning taking flak as people not realised the cost of taxis back from gig, they should check! We had a set of scales in the room why? you get two pillows which is great don't have to ask, but bit bigger bath towels would be good. Otherwise everything as you get in a standard room, shampoo soap, hairdryer and tv etc. Would stay again for one night for Arena., but get a top room to be away from traffic noise

Room Tip: Ask for top room away from road noise

stayed here one night Saturday 16th june 2013. I wouldnt have chose it if I had booked myself but came on a weekend tour with Reay coaches Wigton. As we only paid £89 for coach, hotel DBB and tickets to gardening live at the NEC you couldnt expect the Ritz. On aproaching the hotel we thought what a grotty place very run down and dirty looking. The inside of the hotel is also very shabby. Our room was not bad clean the curtains needed a couple more hooks on and the windows were dirty and could only open a little bit. The bathroom was clean and the towels were fine and there was shampoo etc. I couldnt get the shower to work it kept flicking back to taps but wasnt a big problem if we had been there longer than a night might have been. Dinner at night was ok I had prawn salad starter and pork roast, veg a bit cooked out but otherwise fine, pud I didnt really like. There was coffee in the lounge after. Drinks in the bar were reasonable 2 wines for £4.40. My bed was comfy my friend said hers was a bit lumpy. Breakfast next morning was fine not what i am used to but the bacon was tasty. I can see why coach companies use it and it is handy for the NEC. I think I would rather pay a tenner more for a slightly better hotel. Staff at the hotel we found very polite and all wore tidy uniforms. Only problem was we ordered a wake up call and never got it so good job we were awake.

Room Tip: we were in room 415 which was quiet dont know if it was any better than any other

what a dump! the only saving grace was that the sheets etc and towels were clean, the decor was horrendous and sofas in the lounge were all split, the food was tolerable ,the staff, very young, but pleasant.i understand this hotel belonged to the Shearing Group and their holidays are not cheap!.I will not be staying in any Brittania Hotels any more,it was terrible, needs a makeover fast.

Room Tip: dont go there!

Right, here goes.
To be fair I blame "National Holidays" for my 4 days of misery. We booked a 4 day break with them in an unamed hotel.BIG, BIG, mistake....they sent us here. The Coventry Hill Hotel is at the top of a hill, on a Motorway roundabout. This is definitely NOT a holiday hotel, its a 1 night stay over, and wasnt suitable for our purpose. The hotel itself is an ugly concrete building with Motorway traffic noise. The majority of staff did their best but the food was awful, with breakfast being the worst. Every morning they ran out of Fried eggs, Bacon, and a simple thing like Toast was non existant. My room was clean however but the shower didnt work.

I have stayed in numerous Britannia hotels and I cant understand why they would allow "National Holidays" to use this particular hotel for holiday makers... they do themselves no favours becauses people leave bad reviews about the hotel when in fact they are angry at National Holidays and the location. If you, yourself were to book a holiday hotel, it certainly wouldnt be THIS one

For the second time National Coach Holidays have brought us to the Coventry Hill under the guise this time of a Britannia select Hotel, others use the title mystery Hotel. We tried to find out before booking which select Hotel but those 3 words Coventry Hill Hotel would instantly lose them bookings & NCH couldn't tell us obviously for that reason. No one in their right mind would select this Hotel as a Holiday Hotel for a stay of more than one night. The Hotel offers nothing to entitle it as a Holiday Hotel & coach firms are as much to blame bringing passengers to such for periods above one night. Allesley is within 5 - 10 minutes walk away, once you have taken your life in your hands to cross the very busy carrageway it is situated on, but you will find the village offers nothing to satisfy someone above half an hour. The Hotel outside is utterly grim & as other reviews have stated desperately needs either demolishing or a major face lift. There are no grounds to walk around & the seating outside is 4 wooden benches, 2 in the dark under a tree at the front or 2 at the back - 1 with a broken parasol & constant vehicle noise as in the bedroom and vehicle fumes. Inside is adequate but no toilet facilities for the disabled on the ground floor. Rooms are clean but the shower facilities desperately need upgrading as controlled through the bath taps & the switch between taps & shower fails frequently. Food is good & plentiful but queues are inevitable with a self serve operation in place. Definitely not a Holiday Hotel & the coach firms need to stop subjecting passengers to such an awful Hotel as this.

We went on a cheap package coach holiday so we were not expecting the Ritz , good job really. We were given a room which I don't think had been vaccumed the curtains were filthy and windows and window sills disgusting, the wallpaper was hanging off the wall still we had a clean bed so thought we would stick it out.The decider was the bathroom the shower did not work at all ok we will have a bath only the hot tap worked so we changed rooms. The new room looked satisfactory checked bathroom was ok only to find we had got a bed with springs poking through, tv didn't work and no hair dryer! The staff were doing their best they did try to put things right but its the same old story too few staff for the job working long hours for little pay, the Brittania group needs to look at their hotels their standards are slipping all the time the outside of the hotel looks like Alcatraz damp peeling paint steps that hasn't seen a bucket of water in years the corridor carpets are disgusting. It is such a shame because for the money the food was ok and the staff did their best.

Room Tip: It's pot luck just check every thing works and bed is passable

Omg, we stayed here for 1 night and thank goodness it was only that, the place is terrible with paper peeling off the walls in the bedroom! The bed had clean sheets, and that's the only plus point!! One to avoid at all cost!
