“will not recommend or return”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2012

Just stayed one night and that was enough firstly the Receptionist told us in a couldn't care less way that the restaurant was closed and we could get a meal in the bar as we booked a dinner bed and breakfast stay with wine I expected to be able to have a proper restaurant meal and not pub grub. We were on the 8th floor there is a lift but first you go through a security door with code entry hard to see in dim lighting. The room faced the road so even though it had secondary glazing was very noisy there was a slight smell of cigarette smoke it was all a bit grubby we found a sock in one of the cabinets and we had to move the TV to be able to see it from the bed and there was a blister of prescription pills on the floor so not sure when or if the room had been cleaned. we were called at about 6 p/m to let us know the restaurant had been opened the meal we had was OK a choice of 3 starters served to the table then a carvery type main meal but the chief kept disappearing and people were kept waiting I was alarmed when he let a guest put back a piece of beef she didn't want using her fingers glad I had the lasagne all in all I was left with the impression that the staff were not bothered they just turned up each day the whole place needs a revamp including the car park there was broken window glass around so was worried about car safety will not recommend or return

This hotel overall is rubbish- it's hard to find. You can't find it with your sat-nav. It smells of pub grub as soon as you walk into the hotel. Everything is old fashioned. And as soon as we walked up to see our room we smelt cannabis... I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The hotel is indeed not a very handsome building, and when parking we got a bit worried about all those signs "beware of thieves - leave nothing in your car" (more than usual even at the reception!). Well, the hotel is way past its glory, it is quite 80´s style and would need a refurbishment. The staff was alright - but one could definitely feel that this was not as warm and welcoming as other places. The room was relatively big, but again, not the newest style of furniture.
Breakfast was ok, nothing too special, the usual with cooked breakfast, a few cereals and juice.

If you are looking for something special, don´t book this one! If you have to stay somewhere cheap for business purposes, then it may be ok! Just make sure to take all valuables out of the car! :)

We went as part of a National Holiday and the hotel was OK. The room was clean, spacious and WARM which is more than can be said of the lounge area, dining room and bar area, it was FREEZING. The place is just a wind tunnel which wasn't helped by the fact that the main doors blew off the before we arrived day and weren't fixed properly and there was a power cut during the Saturday night which meant that even the rooms were cold because the heating had to come up to scratch again. A lot of people went to bed on the Friday night to get warm and so missed a very good entertainer. The food was mediocre, the cooked breakfast was cold, the mushroom pasta was completely tasteless and we were the guinea pigs for the christmas dinner which was all right except that all the veg was frozen. And the coffee in the restaurant was diabolical - nobody could drink it. It was an all inclusive holiday so at least we could drink to warm ourselves up.

Room Tip: Room 424 was spacious and clean, except the bathroom could do with a bit of an update,

a one night stay with dinner, bed and breakfast was only £35 (+£2 for credit card), with a free bottle of wine thrown in! It unfortunately looks like a 1960's block of flats from the outside and it needs serious refurbishment on the inside. Staff friendly, dinner OK but breakfast... give it a miss-greasy cheap and nasty. It is a good location for the NEC and airport, it is a shame Britannia Hotels doesn't recognise this and put some money into it. As a one night to save travelling it probably works, but not highly recommended.

We stayed here on a trip to NIA to see Spanish Riding school. Bar was clean friendly and surprisingly cheap for drinks. Evening meal was very nice, we had turkey roast, veg was hot, and plenty of it. Waiting team were friendly and quick.
Room was bit cold when we went in but radiator soon sorted that. Bathroom let room down, shower head was very dirty, rest of bathroom was fine thou. Basic room, but did us well, bed was nice and firm, big and we had great nights sleep. Out of way so no drunks shouting.
Would stay here again
