“Very tired looking, do yourself a favour and go to a Premier Inn”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

I went to this hotel for a one night stay with a group of friends attending an event at Stoneleigh Park. We took three twin bedded rooms and had some fun in the evening comparing their shortcomings over a beer in the pub across the roundabout from the hotel. People had black mould in the bathroom, broken and missing tiles (we had a hole in the wall behind our toilet) broken curtain rails; you get the picture.

Once I imagine the rooms would have been basic but serviceable, however the signs of neglect and lack of investment were everywhere, including in the bar/breakfast area where two broken wall lights hung from the wall by bare wires and flickered forlornly. It was a fitting accompaniment to the cooked breakfast of one budget sausage, one rasher of bacon, one rubber joke fried egg and spoon of beans washed down with very diluted orange juice type drink - yuk.

I did not have a good nights sleep either. The bed was OK, but the single pillow was filled with something akin to cement; in fairness I always struggle with pillows and should have brought my own. However the discomfort didn't end there, noise insulation within the rooms was non existent so if somebody farted in the next room you heard it! Trips to the toilet were accompanied by the racket of an extractor fan starting up and throughout the night various other mechanical noises arise and then just as quickly stop for no apparent reason, I'm guessing there was some sort of plant room nearby.

The staff were reasonably friendly, the few we saw. It was cheap and the location was good, but my advice would be go somewhere else, pay a few quid extra and get a good nights sleep. On the whole, a hateful experience.

Room Tip: Find another hotel, there's a Premier Inn just up the road.

Booked in for two nights before entering hospital for an op, intending to return for two nights after leaving hospital to rest before driving (150 miles) home.
Only stayed one night, the room in a block was so basic, small electric wall heater in bedroom, bathroom heater not working, one towel between two, no curtains only a roller shutter you had to wind down, next morning could not lift shutter because the bottom part was broken. Main building for breakfast, ordered two cooked breakfasts, WHEN they came they were stone cold, due to the only lady on duty multi tasking running the reception, greeting guests for breakfast, cooking the breakfast, answering the phone, clearing tables.Every table that requested a cooked breakfast complained, and was left. all you got was sorry DO you want me to do it again.
DO IT RIGHT IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!
Surely if you are prepairing food you should be in the kitchen,(food hygiene)

Room Tip: Dont stay at this PLACE

Well first impression was it looks like the old butlins holiday chalets. But I thought give it a chance whilst I sat in the car very disappointed with my choice.
The lad on the desk was very nice checked in no problem . Room 35 was the room we were given, first impressions could not swing a cat. Very small the bed very near to the wall on the left. Be careful not to smash my face in getting out half asleep when I need the loo.

Only one mug in the room one pillow each went down got a mug and two more pillows from reception. Put the tv on no remote control in the room, literature on the net states ironing board and iron in the rooms and also a telephone in the room. We had neither in our room.
Went to have a shower no rail and no curtain, the bath was 1/2 the size hubby is six foot 1 had a laugh as his knees touched his chin so we abandoned that idea. Walls thin had noisy men next door shouting and bawling and slamming doors.
The room light shades were filthy, and one was falling off the wall. looks like someone had splattered something on the walls both sides not good. Coffee and tea making facilities were in the room but only two tea bags. Heating ok was on when we arrived. Lots of snow on the ground very very icy underfoot could have been gritted or cleared. steps up to the room had been gritted.
Bed very soft and bouncy clean sheets and very fresh the only good thing about it.
I know it's a budget hotel but you expect the things to be in you room that is advertised in the literature. And things were kept in good order. I have travelled all over the world and some of the places I have travelled to like last year Peru, the hotels there were better than this one. Won't use this company again

no swimming pool to rare and no fitness centre to rate.

Room Tip: Don't go. our room 35 was quieter as the other side was next to mc Donald's drive through.

This is the same chain that runs Premiere Classe, Campanille and Kyriad hotels in France and it is pretty similar to what you would get at a Campanille over there. In fact, most of the literature is directly translated (not always very well) from the original French, so they have more or less bolted on identical hotels to what they have in France.

On the positive side, this hotel represents excellent value for money. OK, so the rooms are small and very basic, but what do you expect at such low prices? Booking.com advertised breakfast at £4.95pp, which I didn't pre-book and was charged only £3.90, for a small cooked breakfast AND choice of cereals, juices, toast etc, which is much better value than Travelodge, Premier Inns and similar hotels. It is quite easy to find, being right behind a McDonalds and just off a roundabout (some of the hotels in this chain in France can be rather tucked out of the way). It's quite close to the M6 and about 10-15 mins from the city centre. Staff are very friendly, helpful and courteous.

Negatives - the rooms are in a separate block from the hotel reception, in a motel type configuration. There are no interior curtains - just a metal shutter, accessed from outside the room. The car park is unsupervised and the walls quite thin.

The bathroom had a shower in a rather small bath that worked well. Very few toiletries provided, just a soap dispenser and some quite small towels.

The restaurant offers a fairly limited choice (a disappointment as the Campanilles in France are pretty good on that front). However, many budget hotels in this price range don't offer hot food at all, so, all in all, this hotel is small, basic but comfortable and with a few surprises, such as free wi-fi throughout.

Room Tip: Be aware that using booking.com you only get to REQUEST a room type (eg double or twin) and it is no...

First impression on arrival not too good, however once at reception there was a friendly welcome. The room was clean, could have been a bit warmer but OK. Food is available but as it was not pushed by the staff I opted for a Take Away in my room. It's not the Ritz but at the price no complaints.

It was after we had booked this visit we read a poor review and was a little apprehensive. However, my daughter (who is 16 years old) and I decided to give it a try. We arrived 9pm after a long drive from London and was greeted by a friendly face on reception that checked us in and gave us info on emergency contacts etc. Although the accomodation looked like the old warner type maisonettes when we opened the room door we were pleasantly suprised with the clean warm cosy atmosphere and a freshly laundered smell. My daughter immediately pulled back the sheets on her twin bed and began inspecting (as fussy16 year olds do) the bathroom she gave me a big smile with the thumbs up sign. The walls are a little thin if you havent got music or the TV on but we still had a coupleof nights comfortable sleep. We did had to wait 20 mins for a cooked breakfast the next morning because it was FRESHLY MADE but while we waited we also had the choiceof a varietyof cereals, fruit juices Coffee and tea and freshly with bread. When the breakfast arrived it was beautifully set out and looked very appetizing and tasted like fresh breakfast should taste! All the staff were friendly and very helpful. As for the cost! I can honestly say that we had excellent value for money and I would definately recommend Premiere Classe to any one even with a family.

Room Tip: We were in room 30 which is on the 2nd floor and we slept well
