“Wetherspoons Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

Booked at short notice after seeing an online promotion price. Very pleased on arrival, although we had to wait a short while to book in.The room we had was on the top floor and very pleasant, clean and comfy for a budget priced room.Would definitely recommend,Staff were very pleasant not only to us but all of the other people we saw them deal with.Great location and not at all noisy for great central location.

Right in the middle of the city. Decent hotel clean and tidy. Good overnight stay. Recommend for couples. Parking an issue but not insurmountable. Good prices in the bar. Friendly punters and sports TV. Not luxurious but for the price is very good.

This is a nice, decent hotel. The location is amazing and the rooms are comfortable. I stayed there several times, and the last time I was quite disappointed with the cleaning. But the other times, I found the room quite clean and tidy.

This bed and breakfast is just great. right in the city centre near the lovely victoria square. Room is just great, not too small not too big. Price we got was really great 36quid a night. By far the best valued accommodation in West Midlands. The breakfast was brilliant too.

Great place, very reasonably priced, lovely yet small rooms
Based over Weatherspoons pub, a bit shady at times, but good beer at give away prices
Great location for food,shopping etc
Book a luxury room if you can as these have king beds and bigger rooms

Well I thought I'd played a blinder. Christmas shopping for Mrs Hill and beer and low cost food for me. Didn't quite work out as I had planned. Arrived on the Friday evening and checked in ok. Pleasant man on the desk very polite. Room good - ok so far. Then downstairs for a meal - no go - wedged, and extremely noisy. Plan B down the road a couple of hundred yards to a chain Italian. One of the advantages of a central location. Christmas market or not Bella Italia came up trumps if a little more expensive than Wetherspoons. Christmas Market trawl in the quiet now for the wife before beer for me. Now to the Wellington real ale pub for beer and back to the Briar Rose. Sadly could not even get within 10 feet of the bar at the Wellington so back to our hostelry. The Briar Rose was still wedged but managed to get a seat for a pint but hardly relaxing. To bed then. Early hours of the morning awoken to noise outside our room. Domestic with a drunk couple next door. To be fair to the staff they did their best but the sleep was already lost. breakfast was good but lacked beer even though advertised as available they would not serve. Will not be returning next year. Suffers from its position and clientèle.

Room Tip: Quieter towards the top of the building.
