My second stay at this Premier Inn my first was last year again both visits were for the duration of The NEC Classic Car Show. Yes I have already booked my room and dinners for 2014. I would not be doing this again if I had experienced the negative contributions written on Trip Advisor.
Again I will start with, ‘’I can’t understand the negative comments written about this Premier Inn’’
The short ten minute walk (max) to The NEC is across several well lit car parks (depending on the hall). You have to exit reception, follow the building to the right walk across a small patch of grass and climb over a small fence and follow your nose!!!
It was a surprise to read about the recently introduced Car Parking Fee and perhaps with a little more thought people staying at the hotel cold be issued with a Parking Permit for the duration of their stay. I found the parking attendant to be helpful and informative. Why did they introduce a fee so that people staying at the Premier Inn had somewhere to park. It was a problem in previous years people leaving their car and going to The NEC/Airport and not staying at the hotel.
The car park I find to be well laid out with thought and plenty of spaces given to disabled visitors. The large kerbs referred to in a previous post have the advantage of preventing cars parking across/ on them thus making parking you car safer not to mention walking to your car.
I asked for early Check In when I booked and this was quick and efficient. This meant I could spend the day setting up at The NEC and return in the evening without having to wait during the busier period. I have always found reception to be helpful and should your require any extra keys etc. they will do what they can.
It was a bit of a walk to my room (253) but this had the advantage over last year of being further away from a very busy bar and restaurant. I was on occasion last year woken up by the expected noise but being further away right at the end of the corridor on the second floor has certainly got its advantages. I will be asking for such a room again.
The room itself was clean and of the standard of a pricier establishment. Yes the TV was not a full sized affair but still served its purpose and could be comfortably viewed from the desk, bed or chair. The room was effectively serviced on a daily basis with all the required towels and bedding for two people. (I booked a double)
I booked in advance my dinners and apart from a short ten minute wait on the first night was shown to my table promptly. The service was good given that the Hotel was fully booked for my four night stay. The Hotel has grown in size and it appears the restaurant has remained its original size despite being refurbished. If you are staying during a busy period for example when The Skills and Classic Car shows are on at the same time take advantage of the booking facility particularly when you have a Meal Deal and problem's should be avoided.
No Bar Food, no Room Service this is a Premier Inn and as far as I am aware these facilities are not advertised and never have been part of the package.
Keep up the good work.
