The good: It's clean, quiet, hairdryer, tea and coffee, cups, kettle, free parking, towels, extra comfy pillows (bothsoft and hard), clothe hangers and decent storage shelf and study table included. Room service as decent and refilled the tea and coffees daily. The bed was fantastic, I slept very well on it and I don't tend to sleep well most nights. It definitely feels more than a budget hotel.
We were given a disabled room on the ground floor though we didn't request one but it was lovely: huge and spacious both in the room and bathroom. The room had a double bed and small soft single bed. We all sat and watched TV with freeview comfortably because it was the only bed we could watch it on. The TV was slanted at a strange angle. Walking to the NEC is about 15-20 minutes which is okish.
The bad: Parking is extremely hard to find. There are hardly any spaces past 6pm. Anyone can go in and park and as long as they enter the hotel and read the large sign that tells you the simple code to get out the carpark so really anyone can get in and out for free. You don't even have to register your car. We ended up taking the train on a Sunday night which worked out to be more expensive then if I drove. The hotel is nearly half an hour away on foot to the railway station. A taxi there is £5ish. You have to climb over a fence to get around to the NEC. This is just a above the waistline high wooden fence that's seen around farms with wildlife. Over the fence there is a shuttle bus stop across the road to the nec which is handy. We heard bad things about the food in the restaurant from guests so either ate out in the Birmingham city centre or drove to a supermarket before hand to buy pot noodles. If you plan to drive into Birmingham, avoid rush hour times at all costs. The journey length is doubled from half an hour to an hour. Wi fi is expensive and slow, so is breakfast we heard.
Overall it was a good stay, if the parking was reserved per request and room, or there were more spaces, that would have made it perfect.
