“Don't be put off by surroundings”

I skipped breakfast, ran 10k, and still couldn't quite finish the Bully Breakfast. It's simple food but good quality, and the price is excellent.

“Can't understand what all the hype is about..”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

Me and my girlfriend visited Jimmy’s the other day due to its high ranking and 5 star reviews posted on TA - Unfortunately all we found was a British Cafe in a miserable industrial unit next to a grotty canal in the suburbs of Birmingham. Although the place was very clean and the bloke ( James ?) was very friendly we couldn’t help feeling a little disappointed . I wonder if we had been to the same venue as the other reviewers , because they seem to be mad about the place , assuming they are all genuine of course. We won’t be going back.

Freshly cooked, clean place, friendly Jimmy, music not too loud, good choice on menu. Excellent value for money.

“A hidden gem that cotteridge should be boasting about!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

This is a real gem of a cafe and I am so pleased I have found it. The food is great, good portion sizes and is excellent value for money and the owner/chef, jimmy, is very welcoming and friendly. It's on the canal, back off the main road which means its nice and quiet and you can watch the world drift by.

When i visited first in may i was so impressed by the place and how reasonable it is I asked if i could hire it for birthday meal with my friends. jimmy agreed and is cooking a 3 course meal for 20 people at £15 a head and we can bring your own drinks. i have just returned home from a taster session that jimmy offered to us and I am so pleased.

We are having bruschetta to start, lasagna as a main, a meat and veggie option - the veggie made of aubergine slices, tomato and Parmesan and pana cotta for dessert. All very tasty and well made. We even hot to sample his homemade kitchen sangria! Really lovely!
Can't wait for my birthday meal now and to eat all the delicious food all over again!

I totally recommend you go!
