Description: “A customer is the most important visitor on our premises. He is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. He is not an interruption in our work. He is the purpose of it. He is not an outsider in our business. He is part of it. We are not doing him a favor by serving him. He is doing us a favor by giving us an opportunity to do so.”Mahathma Gandhi. Indian cooking is an art derived over the centuries from a diversity of sources and developments. Factors such as Religion, health, customs and even climatic conditions have played their part. Meal-times in an Indian household are like ceremonial occasions; the food is a gift from Deities and should be prepared with due respect. In this restaurant we present Tandoori, Mughal and Bengali dishes as a sample of the variety of classic Asian food found across the Indian Sub-continent. We augment this with a series of specially perfected dishes created by our team of long serving chefs who demand only the best. We opened on the 25th of July 2012 in the heart of Moseley Village, Birmingham. Although we are a new restaurant to the area, our experience in the indian restuarant industry expands to well over 20 years. Our team of highly skilled chefs create dishes and menus combining Indian ingrediants with local produce and Indian cooking techniques with European design templates which produces a distinctive layering of flavours Our waiters at Priya are trained to provide a standard of service that's unobtrusively attentive - nothing is too much trouble . In our restaurant we have seating for up to 80 people, and if you are planning a Private Party, Banquet, Conference or Product Launch - please call us, we would be delighted to assist. We can also provide Outside Catering for up to 200 people for any occasion.

“Second time here on a birthday gift voucher, Priya needs a separate feedback section for voucher customers.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2014

First time i came here I thought we must have smelt because we were ushered to the rear of the restaurant and the waiter showed no interest and food was ok to good, but I'm one for giving second chances so here's my latest after reading up and realising that this VOUCHER DEAL does indeed give you second class status.
Second visit:

Again ushered to the rear even though not full at the front. It's quite obvious that this is the VOUCHER DEAL AREA !!!! or should I say this silently because you feel like your cheating the restaurant out of money because this bought at £16 or £17 voucher allegedly is worth £42. There's no way you can spend anywhere near £42 from the menu and the dessert cabinet is just dry coffee cake and a few others not worth mentioning.
Few points to remember before going:
1. Poppadoms are extra cost and salad and sauces charged extra too!
2. Naans, chips and rice charged extra.
3. No sea food dishes or platters allowed either.

Starters were decent being lamb tikka and chicken tikka but brought out mixed together on the same plate and the waiter had to separate them when serving( strange).
We ordered added cost of naan, chips and rice to our mains and my wife's chicken saag look very nice and I had the lamb tikka masala which had 6 pieces of meat and a very small amount of sauce which just about covered the meat, my take away makes better at half the price ( lucky we ordered the extras). Overall the mains were of average quality and portioned well below other establishments and this at £7.95 menu price which negatively is above other restaurants in and around the Moseley area.
Desserts and not going to write about because this was the poorest of all. Total time spent here was 2 hours which could have been cut by at least 30 mins if not for poor timely service.
My last points are that you can get 30% of your order through Just Eat takeaway which would reflect the true cost of this meal so if you are going there with a voucher, do not in no way feel second class because you only get what you pay for really and you still have lots of added costs.
Service was at best average.

“2nd class?”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2014

Visited the restaurant with 3 friends as part of a groupon promotion.Firstly shepherded to rear where there were no others and no atmosphere.Starters were ok but mains were very poor.My balti house special with chicken, lamb and prawns was pathetic,a couple of tiny prawns and very runny more like gravy with no curry flavour.Colleagues chicken tandoori like tomato soup.
When ordering abruptly told no rice or naans included, fair enough but as I say rudely spoken.
Sweet selection poor. Definitely treated as 2nd class customers. Would I go back and pay full expensive prices- in your dreams.

“Friendly owner.Fantastic food.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2014

Moving to the Moseley, one of the first taks is to find the best Indian. This is it.

Get to know the owner, Paul and he will ook after you every time- a genuinely nice guy.

Tip: do not eat the big white sweets at the end - they aren't edible-- dip them in the water instead...:-)

“The place to go for a birthday celebration”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014

I went here with friends for a birthday celebration and the staff were wonderful. They gave us a surprise extra dish, a surprise cake at the end which was so big that seven of us could not finish it, and sang happy birthday. Ok - so perhaps other restaurants do this, but the staff seemed genuinely interested in their work and pleased that were enjoyed the evening. The food was good too and they gave a discount.
I certainly will be back!.
