After a pretty lamentable meal here over last Christmas and following an email discussion about my resulting review with someone who I assume has a vested interest in the place, I decided to eat here again to see whether the Christmas rush gave an unfair impression of the place.
Generally, the answer is yes. I called and booked for 3 adults at short notice (literally within an hour) and they said straight away that they could get us in but we would need to vacate the table by 7. I didnt have a problem as we wanted to eat and run anyway but if I had been in the mood for a more relaxed experience, I would have bailed at this point. More power to them for letting me know in advance - Ive spoken to several people recently who havent been given this advance notice and have ended up having a disagreement with the waiters about moving before they were ready to.
We had a seat by the kitchen, which I quite enjoyed and we were seated and asked for drinks and food order promptly, as expected, given we were on borrowed time!
I ordered the Taglietelle il'Michaelangelo and others on my table ordered some chicken parmigana looking thing and a standard pizza. We were all very pleased with the quality of our food.
My only bugbear would really be about price. the price of mains looked to be a few quid over what I would expect to pay. That said, we will definitely return.
