First visit to The Lord Clifden was during the summer Jazz festival and my wife and I enjoyed the ambience and were impressed with the size of the food menu. Our second visit recently was for food and a social evening. The general atmosphere was still good as was the choice of beer although the staff were off hand. The food menu was enormous but the there was a big (40 min) delay before it came and this delay was lengthened by the wrong food being brought in a table mix up. The same happened to the table opposite. When the food arrived, it was disappointing. My wife had char grilled chicken caesar salad. The chicken and bacon were in large lumps, the chicken tasteless and the salad disappointing. My food was better - a burger but not exceptional and fully priced. We could well return for a drink, particularly if the weather allowed use of the pleasant garden but we will not be eating there again.
